Red light camera shows driver not at fault for running over mom/child

eh, Driver should of at least seen them. Green = Look for a sec and make sure its ok to go. Its not slam on the gas pedal and go.

But defiantly the mothers fault.

Maybe you should watch the video. The SUV didn't just slam on it right when the light turned green. The fucktard mom came from out of the SUVs view (behind a van) while illegally crossing the street. And yea, it is OK to slam the gas pedal and go. That's why green means go, not caution. Of course, you don't do it when someone is walking right in front of you at the time, but those dumb shits weren't.

It's too bad the mom didn't die.
 
In the youtube video linked, the SUV didn't take off right away. Look at the car just to the right of it, it started moving before the SUV and was well into the intersection by the time the SUV moved. I bet the driver of the SUV was texting, noticed the light turned green and stomped on the gas.
 
What I see is that Mom pushes the stroller in front of the SUV well after the SUV takes off. The SUV is already well under way when Mom makes her move and runs in front of it.
Mom tries to beat the already moving SUV.

The SUV driver has no fault whatsoever.
 
IMO the SUV driver must be half blind...left hand drive, how could the driver not see them? There must have been 2-3 secs where the driver could see them clear of the camper!
While I agree the Mom need her head read for trying to dash across after the light changed, the driver of the SUV was obviously changing a CD or something.....
 
WTF is the driver retarded? Not to say what the people did was smart darting in front of traffic like that but why the fuck didnt the driver stop when he/she hit them. All people involved in this are fucking stupid.
 
I'm glad it helped an innocent person not get prosecuted, but I am worried that stories like this will be used as propaganda to further the Big Brother state we are living in.

Being the awesome driver I am, I always clear an intersection visually before I cross it no matter what. Driver couldn't see crossing traffic or pedestrians and just saw green light and went. Bad driver on that point but that's most people. Doesn't matter, the law says the vehicle was in motion and peds were in the wrong.

Also, total fail in the attempt. Revoking the ticket for failure to yield due to him not having time to yield != illegal behavior on her part.

Ive been driving over 30 yrs, and always check crossing before taking off.....Yes the Mom is in the wrong, but Im just amazed at that driver.....Actually the SUV looked like it had tinted windows.....wonder if the driver was also wearing tinted sunnys or something, cause I just cant understand how he didnt see them in his peripheral vision...

Reminds me of the first comment on the article link, about how about 20 years ago we apparently stopped teaching our kids how to properly cross the street. So now, instead of maintaining a strong sense of situational awareness and looking both ways before crossing, people just do their thing and if something bad happens, just sue.
 
I live near Scottsdale, jaywalking is terrible around here. I've seen people walk out into oncoming traffic 20 feet from a cross walk while swearing at the people that are swerving trying to miss them.

And be honest. If that happened to you, you'd be in shock. They said a citation was given and not for fleeing the scene. So shut it.

He may not have even instantly realized that it was a person he hit. The lady jumped out in front of him. He may have assumed that it was a car that struck him, or he may have just panicked which delayed him hitting the breaks.

By the end of the video, he was slowing down/stopping.



Running into the middle of traffic and then suing the guy that hit you should be grounds for removing the child from this lady and forcing HER to pay child support.

That law would not apply if the woman ran out from behind the other vehicle after the SUV was moving, which is what I see.
 
I think many are being fooled by the red light camera's angle regarding what the SUV driver could see and when.
