Red light camera shows driver not at fault for running over mom/child

How not to teach a 4 year old to safely cross a street.

I don't care if people want to j-walk and put themselves in danger, but why do it with a 4 year old? You a) put their life in danger and b) teach them bad habits about running into traffic.
 
why did the suv keep going? Did the driver not know they were running something over? Did the driver think they were in the right and just said "fuck it, i'm not stopping"

I could be wrong, but I thought it looked like the SUV was slowing down at the end of the video. Although yeah, not sure why he/she wouldn't have instinctively hit the breaks as soon as he/she saw the mom bounce off the bumper.

That being said, mom's an idiot, and she deserves a few bruises (at the least) for putting her child at risk like that.

Glad no one was hurt, and I hope that piece of crap and her daughter don't get a damned penny from insurance. I bet lawyers are lined up to get her a paycheck.
 
I was reading some of the comments and it reminded me I almost got a cyclist Monday. I was driving the dump truck with the excavator behind it and the tools in the bed. It's about 65,000 pounds.
I was a few blocks away from a high school and this kid just flies through on my green, cutting in front of me and behind a guy in the left turn lane. I had timed the light nicely so I was still doing 25 or so.

after the video was shown i doubt she will get a damn penny. in fact i hope the SUV driver sues her for damage to her bumper.
 
WTF? Out of all the cars, nobody else there said the light was green and the pedestrians came out of nowhere? We needed that stupid ass red light camera?

all the SUV driver needs to do is take in this video and show it.

Though i will bet the insurance company pays out something small to get it done with.

People don't remember and their memories can be manipulated. So it turns out to a he said/she said where the police sided with the victim initially.

This the insurance company will probably settle out of court. The mother is looking to get her pay day.
 
I was on an airport tram--O'Hare, I believe--when I saw a couple of people rushing to catch it as the doors closed. Mom shoves a stroller into the doorway, with toddler inside stroller, to jam the door so the rest of the family can catch up.

She got a shitload of glares throughout that ride. 😀
 
Reminds me of an incident that happened a few weeks ago. Two female in their mid-20's crossed a red light intersection while fiddling or texting on their cell phone. Nothing wrong with that picture except the oncoming traffic light has been green for a good 10 seconds already. So they didn't pay attention and walked right into oncoming traffic. They looked shocked and appalled when a few cars came to a screeching halt in front of them. Took them a few seconds before they realize THEY are the dumb@ss and proceed to run across the rest of the way.
