It does not taste good, so why is it so popular? I understand that getting drunk can be enjoyable to some, but why beer?

Beer is an aquired taste. Period.

Beer is downright nasty. Tastes like piss.

Don't see the appeal at all. I'd rather have Dr. Pepper or Sweet Tea

Im the same way, while getting drunk can be fun, beer sucks... bad.

Cheap beer tastes awful.

Cheap beer is nasty, good beer can be quite refreshing. Also, there's a huge difference in the taste of ales, lagers, porters, and stouts.

I can't believe what I'm hearing. American beer tastes like piss, yes. A good Irish, Scottish, or Belgium beer however...you all are crazy.

I can go with that, but the the only American "Beer" I've tasted is The Bud, and it tasted of absolutely nothing.

Yah I started on Milwaukee's Best. 😛 "THE BEAST"

BTW, I didn't know so many people from ATOT drank piss!

You have to try them until you find one you like. I didn't care for most of them until I tried some of the darks.

Moose Drool, Beck's Dark, Guinness. All very good (in that order 😉).

need to try some quality beer, like: king cobra, schlitz, pabst blue ribbon, 8ball, carta blanca, mickeys, colt45...

I'm sure you've tried a sample sufficient in size to draw such a generalization of beer? I'm guessing that you've probably only sampled a few, and no doubt all of the same kind. That would be akin to generalizing wine after tasting Boone's Farm.

Diversify your palate a little please.

BTW - comparing Budweiser/Coors Light to a good porter or stout is like comparing Sprite to Pepsi. Two COMPLETELY different types of flavors/textures.

I'd say it's more like comparing 2 day old lukewarm unfiltered tap water with floaties and Sprite. But that may just be me.

I was a bit spoiled, being a teenager in Germany and starting out on german beers. The first time I ever tried a Coors Light I nearly spit it out, then exclaimed "What the hell is this?"

Agreed. It tastes especially bad if you decide you're going to only spend $3 on a six-pack. Most American beer tastes pretty nasty, especially if it gets warm whatsoever.

And, since you mentioned Belgium... I just discovered a new Belgian beer at the local beer shop... Stella Artois. Very good, IMHO.
