Understand the demographics of the board are mainly restricted to those who live in North America, and as such, have been underexposed to truly good lagers/ales/stouts. Really, even in Canada, where beer is taken a little more seriously, the quality cannot compare to a tap drawn straight from the Heart of the Black River in Dublin, or a fine pint in the Highlands, chased with a dram or two of a fine Macellan's..

It's true, our beer isn't too bad (well, Canadian and Blue are pretty much swill, and Bud just took over number 1 in Canada), but we have nothing on good european beers. There's a few passable brands (Upper Canada Lager and Rickard's Red aren't too bad) and some drinkable cheap beers (Lakeport Honey is a party at $1 a bottle), but they sure don't have the quality of good european ale.
 
Beer is an acquired taste. I used to not like them too much when I started drinking but it's pretty good now. I myself love the European beers.
 
I've tasted some beers I like, but I don't drink them that much. Everytime I drink, after a drink or two I get extremely hot, and start sweating. The Bud/Coors/Miller brands all make me gag. I'm a Boulevard wheat fan.

WHAT?!?!?! I need to smack the crap out of you people... Beer DOES taste good. You clearly have not had enough beer. There is nothing like an ice cold beer after sweating your ass off.

And there is no better beverage on earth than a nice pint of Guiness.

I'm in agreement that any beer I've ever sipped tastes like crap. I also refuse to suffer through enough of it to "acquire" a taste for it.

coffee is delicious. delicious. deliciously addicting. last night i ran out of coffee and wanted to kill somebody

in my fridge right now:
9 red stripe
6 pilsner urquel
6 sierra nevada wheat
2 sam adams cherry wheat
2 abita turbo dog
bottle of german riesling
3 limes and some baking soda

alcohol = sustenance 😱
 
methinks you're drinking the wrong beer. the only beer from a can that i've ever had that was any good is guiness. beer from any of the american mega-breweries is crap ... "like having sex in a canoe, f***ing close to water!" there are a number of micro brew and foreign beers that are excellent. one of the most refreshing drinks i ever had has a cold beer on an incredibly hot and humid day - i can still remember how good that tasted!

about the taste, why not visit one of those places in your area that allows you to brew your own? The employess asist you and you can bring whatever you want for flavoring. so if you think it should really taste like piss, then why not whizz in a cup and make a brew out of it? Some places also offer custom labeling. = that's if there is a place like that in your area.... micro brewery?
 
You know what's sad about beer?
Most liquor stores don't do enough to educate the consumer about what the different kinds of beer styles are. Especially the difference between ales and lagers, dark and light beers etc
For example, Belgians are sweet, sugary, have banana/clove flavors, summer ales are crisp with hints of lemon/grapefruit. Then you have stouts (i love oatmeal stouts), porters etc.. Good hearty winter brews 😀 I used to hate these bitter heavy beers. I don't find them bitter anymore, but they are. Anyone who says guiness isn't bitter jus has gotten used to it.. imho.
It's fun to explore the differences when at a party. Everyone can bring one microbrew 6pk and that way everyone gets to try somethin new. Or jus go to a large liquor store that lets you make ur own microbrew 6pk.

The only REMOTELY cool thing about Beer, are the Bud Light 'Real Men of Hero' and Here's to You Obsessive Carb Counter. Have you guys heard this one, its ROTFLMAO Crazy Funny cool.
 
some beer is delicious (Guinness). Some beer is not so good though (bud light)

perhaps you are drinking the wrong beer if yo u don't like it.

if yau aren't a fan of bitter things, maybe try some linies honey weiss ... or some other sweet beer.

beer comes in sooo many varieties.

i love beer. only the cheap crap tastes nasty and is only good when youre already drunk, like budweiser. but if you can find yourself a good microbrew... mmmmmm. :beer:
