Switched from a GTX670 (ASUS TOP) to HD7970

Let me just say, it's definitely not worth it unless you need floating point computations.

Went through 2 AMD card without stability. XFX DD Black and Sapphire OC. None of those are stable at stock speed requiring me to downclock and up the voltage. Still crashes. 🙄

Really terrible drivers that I had to reinstall 10x (yes, I clean and reg clean and all that). Got so good at reinstalling their drivers that now I can do it super quick and efficient.

Crash all the time requiring hard reset during normal web browsing. Glitches in game. Flash freezes in streams requiring me to turn off hardware acceleration.

Word to the wise: Never ever use AMD beta driver. Nothing but trouble there. I mean, the catalyst control panel doesn't even work if you use the beta driver on a clean install. WTF?

Good thing I can still return these cards for full money back.

Back to my GTX 670 for 10x less headaches.

Thread closed due to excessive arguing/trolling. OP, if you have specific questions and want actual help, feel free to make another thread, and others will help you. This thread has gone way off topic.

This looks suspiciously like a troll post...

Why would anyone trade in a 670 for a 7970?

I know what you mean, I've had many troubles in the past with new cards. Sometimes it just takes a while for the drivers to catch up to the hardware.

That said, my 7850 has worked perfect out of the box and that has made me very happy with it. Love to have a 670...

Your computer sucks, throw it out the window or get someone who actually knows something about computers to help you rebuild the pos you have right now.

Thats funny because I havent had any problems whatsoever with my card, or driver issues at all

Sounds like user fail (if it werent a troll)

I'm lovin' my oc'd 7950 that shits all over your 670. Amd cards don't belong in your life... Kinda like heaven doesn't belong to your death 😛

They have always had bad drivers. If you read enough forums, especially gaming you will see a long list of complaints. I don't know why some of the people above are being rude about it.

So you basically seem to not know what you're doing.

  1. Run Driver Sweeper to remove Nvidia drivers.
  2. Reboot.
  3. Download latest full or stable Catalyst Software Suite from AMD's webiste.
  4. Make sure everything is running right then choose to install the Beta driver
  5. Check to see if the latest Caps will be of use to you.
  6. Reboot.
  7. Enjoy.

If you read enough form posts you'll find numerous problems with just about anything. Nvidia has had their share of driver problems, people that use both AMD and Nvidia realize that neither vendor is perfect. And also realize that neither vendor has chronic problems like certain people (perhaps you) would like everyone to believe.

+1^

AMD is always the good enough value choice, we all know it's a decent idea to buy something that is good enough and a low price, its just difficult to be excited about it. OP no matter how much you hate AMD we need them to stay competitive to keep prices down.

AMD and nvidia are equally competitive with each other as in they offer the same thing wrapped up in a different label/brand image. Choose your flavor Budweiser or Molson Canadian eh !
