Considering everything they use it for I would mostly agree, but not for vital services like fire, law enforcement and courts.Well, Paul does consider taxation a form of government sponsored theft.

Are you saying that Rand is lying?
I don't think anyone is disputing that this guy assaulted Senator Paul, the main difference is that some people (myself included) think that it was an act of politically motivated violence and others think it was just a minor neighbor altercation. Why is Rand incapable of lying but only the other guy is? Also, this is "Rand's office," no? pretty much his publicity team. Publicists are always there to put the truth out, right?
Basically, I don't know wtf happened. You seem convinced that only one class of humans is capable of lying to defend themselves, however, and that is what I am looking at here.
But Jim Skaggs, who developed the gate-guarded community in Bowling Green where Paul and Boucher both live, suggests that there was longstanding tension between Paul and many of his neighbors, including Boucher, due to the Senator's inability to compromise on such matters as lawn-trimmings, overhanging tree branches, and the community's extensive Homeowners Association guidelines, which minutely prescribe how people in the community must conduct themselves.
Paul is a legendary property-rights ideologue, named for Ayn Rand. Mysteriously, he decided to buy a home in a community where the other property owners subjected buyers to contracts that bound their behavior and then decided that the sanctity of that contract could be unilaterally overriden, insisting on personal variances.
Paul is said to have had a history of blowing his lawn trimmings onto his neighbors' property.
"Paul "was probably the hardest person to encourage to follow the (home owner's association regulations) of anyone out here because he has a strong belief in property rights," said Skaggs, who is the former chairman of the Warren County Republican Party.
Skaggs noted the 13 pages of regulations governing the gated community are extensive. But even from the start of Paul's residence in Rivergreen, Skaggs said Paul has been difficult to work with.
"The major problem was getting the house plans approved," Skaggs said. "He wanted to actually own the property rights and build any kind of house he wanted. He didn't end up doing that, but it was a struggle."
I'm a fiscal conservative and by default that makes me a small government conservative.Home Owners Associations do sound rather like mini-states. With some of the benefits and problems that states cause. Sometimes wondered how 'small government' conservatives feel about them.
If he cared that much, he should've built his own goddamn house on unincorporated land, paved his own driveway, installed a septic tank and solar array and standpipe and called it a glorious day.
There's something fishy about this whole story...and it's not political motivations or even grass clippings. Senator Paul claims he doesn't know what prompted the incident. Yet he initially downplayed the injuries. It was like he was trying not to attract attention, and the first rule of politics is you never downplay a personal tragedy especially if it can be spun at the other side's expense.
Somehow the neighbor was only charged with misdemeanor 4th degree assault--did Paul not want to press charges? Boucher's lawyer was purposefully vague in initial statements.
It seems both men are very embarrassed about this whole thing and are going out of their way to not keep this in the press. And now Paul is claiming they haven't spoken in a while? Something is amiss with their whole relationship.
May not agree with you...but I respect an honest man.
I actually don't respect Trump and some of his appointees. Do you respect any of Trump's appointees?oh? so you must not respect our president or his appointees.

Given the attacker's low bail, and maximum year in jail if convicted, I think there were less than political motives, otherwise couldn't he be charged with terrorism, and face stiffer consequences?I think we have a disagreement among neighbors about what motivated this attack. Yet it's clear that none of them knows for sure.
The fact that the attacker is a liberal is not relevant unless the attack was politically motivated.
Maybe at some point Paul and/or Boucher will speak up about this and we'll have a more definitive idea about what motivated the attack. Until then, the only reason to make an assumption one way or the other is if you're being partisan.
I figured as much. No, dishonesty is just one of the reasons.
I figured as much.
Yep...no hill for a stepper.Oh? even special needs sherlock can figure it!

I'm not sure how, exactly, but somehow I'm starting to suspect that there is something sexual about this whole situation. Not sure if that's between Paul and Boucher's wife, daughter, friend...or Boucher himself. But I don't know what else would precipitate a flying rage punch between people who've lived next door to each other for years without ever coming to blows before. There is something here that both parties are trying to keep out of the press.Yes, but the argument from the right will be that he's lying about not having a political motive in order to avoid stiffer penalties.
The more I think about this, however, the less it appears political. This guy basically ran and took a flying leap at Paul. That sounds like an impulsive crime. Politically motivated crimes are generally premeditated, the only real exception being if the attack occurs right in the middle of a heated argument. Yet there was no argument. Boucher just came at Paul out of nowhere. I have a hard time believing that one day Boucher looked at Paul and just suddenly lost it over Paul's political positions or support of Trump. This feels personal.
