I have a special affinity to Carrie Fisher, also being bi-polar. That cost me my last relationship which was quite amazing for me. The key there were mixed episodes, those combining mania with depression. All cause I couldn't afford a certain drug that worked for me. That drug was over $1K a month without insurance, and $15 with. Talk about a bummer. Bi-polar can be invigorating as far as crazy manic productive phases go but the highs are too high and the lows are too low.

The politically-correct Internet SJW crew is already jumping on people to prevent them from saying anything remotely nice:

Steve Martin shamed into deleting Carrie Fisher tribute tweet

When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher she was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well.

Backlash to an industry where you are literally hired & paid based on your looks? Really? Seriously? I feel bad for Steve, he should have left it up. It's okay to have and to express your opinion in America. Of course, it didn't stop there:

Cinnabon apologizes for Carrie Fisher tweet

Really? She was literally famous for her cinnamon-roll hairstyle in Star Wars. She's probably up there laughing at this picture right now. #cupcakenation

the steve martin post was ok. he knew her personally and meant no disrespect. the cinnabon post was a bullshit marketing fail and deserved the backlash.

Sure it was trite, but come on, she was famous for her hairstyle from the SW movies. I don't think it was inappropriate. And coming from an art background, I appreciated the image.

The question is, are companies not allowed to pay tribute to famous people now, even if it's obvious marketing? I don't feel like it was done in poor taste. She & her hair are cultural icons.

Carrie Fisher did a one woman play in Southern California where she would wear a Leia bun wig. I won that wig in a charity auction after bidding an insane amount.

IIRC, the "play" was her one woman show Wishing Drinking. She donated the wig to a silent auction for a school charity in Pasadena. I think I bid $500+ for it and since there were no other Star Wars fans in there, the next closest bid was like $125. :frowning:

I still have it in my closest. It's one of those, "what the heck am I supposed to do with this" kind of items.

Authentic Leia buns? Bet you can get a hell of a lot more than half a grand for it if you were to Ebay it today.
