I think that if Congress airs all of Trump's dirty laundry there will be more than enough to impeach. I'm betting that if just his tax returns were made public enough Republicans would turn on him to make the super majority. I'm betting that when Mueller releases his recommendations to Congress we will get 90+ votes to impeach. In the end when the writing is on the wall and all the dirt is aired out and there is no hiding behind Fox propaganda the Republicans will be falling all over themselves to tell us how they never really liked Trump and always suspected something was wrong.
The question is how many Republicans in Congress are implicated in all the crimes that have been perpetrated.

Okay, let's just say he survives impeachment, and gets his ass kicked in 2020. Now he's a regular citizen, and all those charges against him have been waiting. He gets indicted, gets convicted, gets (fill in the number) years in jail.

Do you really think the Bureau of Prisons is going to allow the Secret Service to escort him around the yard?

I'm sure a private prison would build something for him.

You're saying they would build him his very own prison?

I voted No but i don't want poverty nor a stock market crash so I propose we amend the constitution so Trump can be president for the rest of his life!

No. I rather have a dumb orangutan in office than some religious zealot nutjob taking charge.

This is all true and abhorrent, but the reality is that Obama ain't president anymore, so any pointing of fingers at him now is just disingenuous.

No, it's indicative of a serious problem that runs across multiple administrations. It didn't simply start yesterday when Trump was elected.

It's disturbing IMO that Trump and Giulani are recklessly saying that a Trump impeachment would crash the markets or cause a revolt. Just irresponsible, as always.

The disturbing thing is not what they say but that not everyone is pointing and laughing as they should.

Biblical trivia-
Most Judges were decent and that system of government held judges accountable. One day the Israelites looked at the other nations and said "We want a King".

I shall bring the exchange between the Israelites and God into the modern vernacular.

The people cried out for a king and God said "GTFO, are you serious? And the People said "Yes". God said "Dudes, you are going to be taxed for the wealthy and powerful and have to go to war for their asshole antics. You still want a king? "And the People, being a stiffnecked lot said "Yes, give us a king".

And so God gave the People Donald J. Trump.

My point is that because Trump IS president, it is his responsibility right now.

The public can't act against people out of power with any hope of changing current problems.

Given the very insane nature of private prison industry, I would not be shocked if this is what happened.

Instead of a library, he could get his own prison!

I would not bet on Trump being prosecuted by the Federal government. Possibly, but I wouldn't risk the farm.

But.

Barbara Underwood, NY AG.

She is effing awesome and her CV is likewise. Seriously, I was impressed.
So the Reps will try to kill any prosecution and Pelosi will kiss ass and "heal the wounds of America" like they did after the Iraq War meaning to do nothing and let justice be perpetually undone for political expediency.

But

Barbara Underwood, NY AG, who has brought a civil suit against Donny, his two sons and Ivanka. In the suit it also mentions that money was diverted for what was illegal payments for personal matters and then again illegally for campaign purposes. Well it's civil so what? Well I'm glad you asked. Underwood has made criminal referrals and documentation available to the IRS, the NY dept of taxation, the DOJ for fraud as well as to her own dept to review, the Federal Campaign folks and I don't know who else.

If the Feds do nothing then Trump and his kids face decades in prison, and millions for the abuse of the charity and then investigations into the Trump Organization once criminal proceeding have been formalized.

It doesn't matter what Trump, Nunes, the entire Republican and Supply Side Jesus say or do. Underwood will push this to the fullest extent of prosecution and punishment allowed under NY law.

So screwed.

Same question still applies, whether it's a federal or state conviction.

As a former president he's entitled to lifetime protection by the Secret Service. The only exception to that, is impeachment and conviction. If he gets convicted as a private citizen after he left, with no impeachment conviction, do you think any state prison is going to allow the Secret Service to escort him around the yard?

Maybe we should ask this Pecker guy with an immunity deal :

https://apnews.com/143be3c52d4746af8546ca6772754407

"he National Enquirer kept a safe containing documents on hush money payments and other damaging stories it killed as part of its cozy relationship with Donald Trump leading up to the 2016 presidential election, people familiar with the arrangement told The Associated Press."

"The detail came as several media outlets reported on Thursday that federal prosecutors had granted immunity to National Enquirer chief David Pecker, potentially laying bare his efforts to protect his longtime friend Trump."

LOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Nope. They know at this point they can't get away with that. I also not convinced they'll get on board after Mueller reports. This taint is predictable in its unpredictability or is it unpredictable in its predictability? Regardless, they're afraid of the cult.

As protecting any President is paramount, yes, Trump will have Secret Service protection. The most secure solution in the case of prison would be to isolate Trump from the prison population and have an SS agent sitting outside.

If he gets off then he gets protection but no loyalty other than safeguarding his person. If he commits a crime in front of them then they inform the appropriate agencies who then take proper action.

This is also not set in stone the Act which provides protection can always be amended to cut off protecton, health care, pension, all perks including security clearances if a President is removed from office or resigns to avoid possible impeachment or criminal conviction after leaving office.

Oh sh!t!
I totally forgot about that! All former presidents are also still entitled to the PDBs (Presidential Daily Briefings).

Being in incarcerated state, all correspondence would be checked by corrections officers. Regular guards would be seeing some pretty classified stuff.

If conclusive evidence comes out connecting him to Putin/Russia, I hope Trump's PDBs are lit on fire each day before he ever sees them.
