Well 16 is legal but the guy is at least 8-9yrs her senior...but that is still legal. Just not the 'acceptable' norm in 'western' society.

Quite normal to guys in the east to marry 16/17 when your 25yrs+. My mum keeps mentioning I can get with 16/17yr old virgins...and I'm 22 in a few weeks. A bit disturbing but I guess it is what she was brought up with. Older guys marrying younger girls so that is 'her norm'.

I think the over 18 or 3 years apart system works well (i think it was enacted somewhere in the norhtern midwest).

i can't think of a single country that makes such a big deal out of teens having sex as america. if you ask people why they feel the way they do, they won't give an argument based upon valid reasoning(like stds, teen pregnancy etc.), but on puritan values and social conditioning. as demonstrated in this thread.

how many of these same americans enjoyed traci lords though? from what i understand she was quite popular in america.
