It's his opinion. Obviously you disagree, as you've already said this many times already. Stop being an ass.

One can have a position that they call an "opinion" that is wrong.

Any "opinion" that claims that Alien3 did not suck is, in fact, wrong.

;)

The extra content about 3 is pretty interesting though. You can really tell just from the interviews that even the people working on this film hated it and felt like they failed but it was all because of the studio. It was doomed from the start.

Disagree. It surely isn't Alien or Aliens, but it's not a bad movie. Alien Resurrection, on the other hand... Ew.

The ending to Aliens was great.
The alien threat is completely eradicated and Ripley can sleep soundly once more. Ripley has a new daughter in Newt (her real daughter grew old and died while Ripley floated in space after Alien). She has found her soul-mate (Hicks). Like Ripley, Newt has proven to be a tough and resourceful survivor. Though her colonist parents are dead, she has a new mother and father.

Alien3 starts out with a horrendous plot hole. Inexplicably, there's an xenomorph egg in the room where
Ripley, Newt, and (Hicks have been in stasis since the events in Aliens. It causes an accident that kills Newt and Hicks.
Even if there was some explanation for the egg (there's not), the few victories in Aliens are now completely pointless if this movie is considered canon.

#$%^ spoiler tags. Alien3 doesn't deserve them.

In another scene, one of the men witnesses the alien creature killing another man. He doesn't know what the creature is and describes it as a "dragon." The other men don't believe him and they incarcerate him because they think he murdered the other man. Later, they all confirm that the creature does exist and is still killing people. Inexplicably, they keep the original man confined. They devise a plan to catch the alien. We never see them attempt to catch it. Then there's a scene where some men talk as if they've captured it (?!?). Someone says something like: "We can't let him go. He might free the alien." WHAT?! Why on Earth would he free the alien creature? He was terrified of it! Then, for no particular reason, someone lets him go. He frees the alien.

FUCK THAT SO-CALLED "MOVIE."
FUCK. FUCK. FUCK. FUUUUUUCK.

*whew

Also, Ripley has sex with some guy for some ridiculous reason, totally against her character.

The creature in Alien3 eats people. :colbert:
The creature in Alien3 runs like a dog. :colbert:
The people in Alien3 talk like characters in a saturday morning cartoon. :colbert:

At least the 4th movie, Alien Resurrection, has some elements of a good Alien movie. The creatures are intelligent, resourceful, and scary. One creature kills another so the acid eats through the floor and they can escape. It remembers the purpose of the red button and uses it against the scientist that had previously used it to torture / control them. The creature continually demonstrates frightening new abilities and forms...so the characters are in constant fear. It had major, MAJOR flaws, but it was far, FAR better than Alien3.

My time was wasted by people on this forum saying: "It's actually not that bad." or "The Director's Cut is actually good."

From now on, I will always counter those statements and hope to prevent others from being misled.

3 was a terrible movie. I remember leaving the theater with my friend and both of us feeling very violated. I knew it was going to be bad in the opening scene though since they killed off all the relationships that they had developed in 2. Not sure what the problem is with this franchise and character development but I get the impression that it's not a priority for them.

What about Alien Resurrection? I'd reserve the "complete garbage" title for 4, not 3. There simply is no compelling reason whatsoever for me to watch it again.

Alien3 is like the Godfather Pt.3 - if films were in competitive leagues, with Alien, Aliens, Godfather 1 & 2 all in the masterpiece league, A3 or G3 are at least two leagues below. They concluded the trilogy, ok-ish. Matrix 3 is at least another league below A3 or G3 :)

I'd put A4 and M3 in the same bin.. I mean league. :) The one with the title "if someone buys me this as a present, they don't know me very well" :)

Separate question - I have Alien and Aliens on DVD. I also have two 1080p screens (my monitor and my TV). Is it worth having the quadrilogy? Personally I find Alien perfectly watchable in its current format, but Aliens is horrendously grainy. I looked at stills on a Blu-ray review site, but stills can be quite deceiving, one way or the other.

One other thing that makes me hesitate in getting Blu-ray movies is that I don't have a Blu-ray reader drive in my PC. I do have a Blu-ray player however.

Aliens was shot on new film stock that was only used for a year or less because it was so grainy. They can remove the grain when they re master it but they generally cannot do that without losing detail and sharpness.

I think when she did it maybe she didn't yet realize there was only one way to be sure and it didn't include what she was doing?
