Tried to change my password last night and it crapped-out. I think I will just wait a week or so and then try again.

Yeah, I tried three times last night and could not get through. I will try later in the week as well.

So, I guess this is a good time to discuss Sony perks for PSN downtime, any news on this?

Happy day!

well, actually doesn't matter. after reading one of the more recent vitriolic posts regarding Netflix access, I decided to test mine out, as I hadn't attempted it since all of this happened.

and yep, it actually worked yesterday afternoon. had to log-in twice to PSN--well, go through the process, and ignore firmware update, but I was able to stream trhough Netflix.

....so I guess this doesn't matter to me as I never use PSN for anything else, heh.

I didn't say they deserved to be hacked and I certainly won't defend hackers, but Sony didn't exactly demonstrate a great deal of common sense.

"You deserve to have your shit stolen b/c you didn't lock your front door."

right...wtf is wrong with people that seriously believe this shit?

Agreed. While I agree that Sony's complacency in security ultimately led to a greater breach than should have been possible, it is silly to argue that immoral and/or illegal activity is somehow sanctioned through that complacency.

It's not like Sony had no security at all. Hackers actively breached, trespassed onto Sony servers and stole data, both encrypted and unprotected alike. Sony locked their door. The problem was that it wasn't a very good lock.

The whole "they deserve it because they didn't lock the front door" argument isn't based on any real evidence. There is no aspect of the system that could have been accessed without some sort of active and intentional breaching of security, easy or not.

Very true.

On a lighter note, PSN has been running perfectly for me since early Sunday morning here in Georgia.

ah, I was late to the update news. looks like I only tested Netflix after it had been restored in the US. :\

Very true.

On a lighter note, PSN has been running perfectly for me since early Sunday morning here in Georgia.

I had a buddy of mine (also a PS3 owner) visiting the other night, and we were playing a few rounds of UFC Undisputed 2010. In between matches I just randomly decide to see if it's back up. As I'm exiting the game and going into the menu, my buddy's all "No way is it back up. It'll be down for a while longer." Go into PSN to setup an account (I bought mine the day after it went down), and it prompts me to update to 3.61. It was a funny coincidence.

Everything's been fine for me, for the most part. I try to enter my Mortal Kombat combat code, and it says it's down for maintenance. Hopefully that starts working soon, as my 48 hours is up soon.

yet, we have thousands of dipshits stealing movies and music on a daily basis.

of course plenty of people believe they have a right to other people's property, simply because they can get it.

You're assuming that the people who pirate stuff need to feel what they're doing is justified.

Anyways, no one here is trying justify piracy or hacking Sony.

Dead Nation and Wipeout for me. I want infamous again, but I still have a fat 60gb model, so entire retail games aren't a good pick for me. I already own Stardust.

inFamous for me, I guess.

naturally. :D

though I'm not sure I'll ever play it. I also have a 60gb model. How much space would the full install take?

Is inFamous good? I haven't played any of those games except Little Big Planet which I wasn't into.

The demo was really fun and I've wanted it but never got around to buying it. Will be picking that up for sure.

I'm still waiting for a way to get my access back. Haven't seen an email yet and the reset password function hasn't sent an email either.

i gotta say none of the games listed sound like fun
come on dude they're free

I'll research and try out the 2 best rated games out of that list

I dunno, the problem is that the games are old enough that many people who want them probably already have them. Not knocking Sony, but the truth is for some of us the list is only a gesture.

Personally, I already have LittleBigPlanet. I played the inFamous demo and it just didn't appeal to me. Similarly, even though many people have suggested Super Stardust and Wipeout, they're not my cup of tea; if they were, I'd have purchased them a long time ago.

That leaves Dead Nations as the only game that I haven't heard of, don't own, and piques my interest. I'm actually tempted to connect to PSN and update (which would take a while, as I haven't logged on in something like 6 months). But the more I think about it, I already have a bunch of games backlogged, and there's no reason to add two more games that I very well may never end up playing.
