Knowing that Senate Republicans will exonerate, She is giving more of them time to come out and openly admit that they won't convict regardless of any evidence presented. The clearer it is that Republicans are corrupt, the better.

Given the fact that there's national ambivalence over impeachment, this lowers impeachment's profile until such time that it's worth taking up again..i.e. something changes the calculus to make it more likely that the Senate GOP would have to take a trial more seriously. OTOH, Pelosi has probably gone a long way toward satisfying the more outspoken members of her party in the House - she gave them their impeachment. And now it's as clear as day that Mitch McConnell has no intentions of taking it seriously at this time, which is something we've known for a while - certainly something Pelosi has known for a while. Impeachment's profile gets lowered and they can focus on other issues more important to voters and look less like they're going on offense.

Please. Failure to deliver the writ to the Senate in rather short order just bolsters the argument that It's a weak case Dems are afraid to advance, that it's all political, that it's not because Dems feel an urgent moral obligation to cleanse the office of the criminal now occupying it.

The R's and their talking heads will have something to say regardless of what Pelosi does, at least by withholding the writ it denies Trump his exoneration and subsequent affirmation of his kingliness he's been craving since his election.

Not advancing the writ will be portrayed as exoneration. Democrats don't have a case! They won't even bring it to trial! Poor Trump! They won't even let him defend himself! They'll just keep it hanging over his head! So unfair!

Meanwhile, impeachment witness Bill Taylor--who already planned to step down in January--has been told to leave Ukraine before Pompeo arrives.

Piglosi can fuck around and delay sending the impeachment to the Senate til the cows come home, but her power ends in the House. She doesn't get to establish the Senate rules for this trial, as much as she'd like to. The Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. Article I, Clause 6: "the Senate has exclusive and unreviewable authority to determine what constitutes an adequate impeachment trial"

Turn the Articles in to the Senate and let them do their job, then let's move on.

She is doing her job. Neither you nor the Senate can tell her what to do.

Pelosi's job is to do her best to remove Trump from office as he has violated his oath to the Constitution and so she should do everything she can to make that happen. Failing that, she should make it as costly as possible for those individuals who want to enable Trump's crimes.

Remember, the president is using his office to try and rig the next election. Pelosi is trying to protect the country, you included, from that.

Which doesn't address Mitch's obvious intentions for it to be a sham, a whitewash & a travesty of Justice. Pelosi will hammer that home over the holiday break & strike while the iron is hot, I figure. I mean, surely Trump's closest advisors will, like, totally exonerate him with their testimony, won't they? Of course they will! How can McConnell deprive Trump of the opportunity to clear his name?

No. How does that feel? Pelosi is not obligated to commit to a trial that is of treasonous intent on the part of the GOP.

Pelosi has absolutely Constitutional obligation to subvert the Constitution. There is no "must" here, no more than the Senate "must" conform to here.

A stalemate and done. Cry a river, call people names, crap in a hat. At this time it's over unless Pelosi decides otherwise.

Impotence must be a horrible thing.

Bullshit. Pelosi is not only trying to negate the results of the last election, but control the results of the next one. It's not gonna work. The Democrats have pretty much guaranteed his reelection. I have no doubt that when Trump is acquitted in the Senate, the house will impeach again, except, should they lose control of the House and not regain control of the Senate in 2020, Pelosi obviously will no longer be speaker and they can't do that anymore. Even in that they will probably keep introducing articles, but they won't pass in the House.

Fuck Pelosi and the rest of her fucktard cabal.

Well, we can deprive McConnell the opportunity to acquit and win the trial, just sayin'.

Then it will become a faux impeachment and the Senate should move to quash it, going to the Supreme Court, if need be. An impeachment without a resolution is not real. Lets see how that works out.

She's trying to stop Trump from rigging the next election as he's already openly admitted to doing.

In the future when there's a Democratic president you'll thank her for standing up for the country and the Constitution. Remember, she's protecting you and the rest of the country from Trump's crimes.

The Supreme Court has no jurisdiction for impeachments and the Constitution prohibits them from interfering.

You sound upset. Are you upset because your favored President was impeached? Or are you upset because he isn't getting anything accomplished?

I know you aren’t mad because Mitch has already decided the outcome already and publicly stated as much.

By "do their job" you must mean to freely admit to breaking the oath they'll swear before it even starts.

Sorry, while that may be, your posts and others here reek of desperation, of people who know they are losing the battle. The democrats have been plotting to remove this president since day one. The media have been working in collusion with them, becoming an arm of the Democratic party, and activists toward that end. People like you have bought right in. The result is irreparable damage and division. Pelosi has said they have been working on this for 2 1/2 years, so this never was about Ukraine, but about hate for this president and their quest to destroy the presidency. This has been a highly organized coup attempt. I hope everyone involved gets their just desserts.

Projection is a hell of a drug.

If Trump didn't want to be impeached, all he had to do was not perform impeachable actions. Then nobody would have impeached him. Shit, he wasn't impeached for a litany of things that any other president would have been.

Following the Constitution is not a coup. It's actually why they were elected. I'm sorry your president was impeached, I truly am. No amount of gnashing of teeth is going to take that away though, he's an impeached president.

I'm not mad at all. I feel badly that the country has to go through this and that so many people bought into this whole charade. In actuality, I'm laughing at the politicians like Nana, Schiff, Nadler and the Democratic house. I'm laughing all the way to the next election, where I believe the results of all this will be revealed in the most devastating ways for the Democrats. There is going to be a revolt and the people will show their hand on election day.
