We got about 1/2" overnight which then turned to rain at some point before I left for work. Made the snow nice and heavy and the roads a slushy, wet mess. Made for a wonderful commute this morning.

Foot and half in my alley; got stuck immediately and then spent wonderful 2.5 hours digging the car out. Bah.

If I didn't have the Blazer, there is no way I would have gotten out. About half the people at the office called in today, all of them have little cars.

I was thinking about it whether even something with more clearance would make it through. I've got an AWD audi with new tires (all seasons, but still) and air suspension that I raise up another inch or so.

It was high 30s here most of Sunday when this crap was coming down and then it dropped to teens, so the bottom is frozen solid. I ended up having to jack up the car in the snow, dig out some of the snow and drop it down on 2x4s with bricks underneath to get it sitting a bit higher.

Yea...screw that. I just push the 4WD button, put it in reverse and go. Then text lil rudeguy to shovel the crap before I get home.

It's around this time of the year that I just give up on driving in Chicago. Parking is such a PITA.

I paid some kids going door to door to shovel midway through the storm to hopefully cut my work in half.

There was so much wind overnight that parts of my lawn area are 2-3ft high. My driveway & sidewalk are a little shorter than they could have been, but overall the work was mostly covered.

EDIT:

However I can work from home whenever I need to, same with wife. So no biggie.

I used my snow blower twice for one storm, and both times had drifts in the driveway taller than the snowblower. I'm very glad I bought this thing this year. It would have been an utter bitch to shovel.

This has been a really mild winter for us. Next to no snow on the ground, temps right around freezing. Not bad at all.

Then yesterday we got BLASTED. Had 24" in my driveway, looks like my work got about the same. I'm not sure what the official count is. The really bad part is its only 5F, so the salt isn't going to do anything for a while.

Here's my work. The tunnel is about waist deep.

Here's my work. As you can see, the motorcycle parking only is full up today. :p Mine is the red one on the end next to the junky looking pickup truck.

Winter is nice. I do not like long commutes caused by bad drivers who crash, but I like the ocasional extra work from home day, I can focus and do work without constant interruptions, or I can nef in last years threads!

Maps showed that between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, lots of snow got dumped ... I imagine 100 miles south of Rude, its probably even 6 or so inches deeper ...

From the weekend storm Sat night / Sunday, we got about 16 inches of new snow ... Im gonna need to use a rake or broom to get some of the snow off of the roof above the kitchen where I need to have better insulation blown into the attic ... cause otherwise it may cause pooling and leaky roof, which sucks.

That's the snow belt. My sister lives outside of Allegan and gets the brunt of every storm. I'll see if she can send me some pics.
