Why? A search warrant was issued based on probable cause.

The probable cause listed will likely be found to be insufficient if this goes to trial(it will never go to trial). Just because a warrant is issued doesn't necessarily mean the warrant is valid. Invalid warrants get issued all the time.

In any event, the warrant was not validly executed either. Every search they did was illegal as the warrant was not executed in the right county and it was also executed after expiration of the warrant. Every search they did was a separate assault and battery(both civil and criminal).

What makes you say that? Guy could be a wealthy individual already; one who knows how to manage his finances. The article makes no mention of his current financial state.

The fact that he didn't notice the cop before he decided to run a stop sign. Doesn't speak well of his life skills.

And everything we know about lottery winners says he'll blow it.

Thinking about all this makes me feel pretty hostile. I probably would have assaulted several people over the course of this ordeal. So, your rights end when there's a warrant to search you or your vehicle for the probable cause of clenching your ass? Great.

Why? A search warrant was issued based on probable cause.

the technicalities of the follow up location/time is just sour technical grapes which would be allowed.

Now if his sequence of events in terms of multiple scans/checks is correct; then he would have some case.

I want to know what the probable cause was, in this case. Why did they ask him to get out of the car, instead of just writing him a ticket and sending him on his merry way?

He lives in Deming, NM. That right there is reason enough to question his choices in life/his life skills.

Police will search your vehicle and create probable cause out of nothing. The only thing you can do about it is make it known that you do not consent to search, and that you have nothing in the vehicle.

I am curious to know more details about the original stop, however.

NY is voting on making gambling legal today. He could move there and blow all his lottery money on that.

I want to know what happened between the time they pulled him over, and the moment he got out of the car.

Everything after the x-ray was harassment, and should result in the firing of the police officer(s) involved.

After the x-ray? Sieg heil sixone?

Do you think they should have started with sticking things up his ass, rooting around for gold? Or would you say that an x-ray is the least invasive way to find out what you need to know?

Am I going to be the only one to defend the cops here? It's a well-known fact that anyone with good posture has drugs shoved up their rectum. I have never had good posture, and I attribute that to me never walking around with a kilo of heroin in my butt.

With the facts presented, I think the cops would have been justified in chopping the guy in half with a samurai sword and then sifting through his organs for the drugs. I'm at least 32% sure they would find something illegal amidst his bowels and, if not, well, I guess shit happens.

How about they have no right to subject him to radiation just because he's squeezing his ass?
