Shit, I gotta take our Ikariam accomplishments off my resume.

Seriously though - I think some of the stuff we did would be noteworthy, but it obviously wouldn't be taken seriously.

- Delivered fails to local towns on a daily basis
- Contributed 140,600 total score points to alliance, allowing ATFTMW to become #1 on Theta server
- Managed 5 towns, effectively transporting resources between them to minimize bottlenecks due to lack of natural resources
- Coordinated attacks with fellow alliance mates on several forums as well as in game communication to eliminate larger opponents

In high school, there were "pep rallies" for sporting events. In at least one instance, we were told to go out and line the halls, to applaud the football team as they marched down to the bus for some big game.

Scholastic competitions: You left quietly during class without fanfare or explanation. Wins were sometimes acknowledged, which corresponded with most of the student body learning that the school was even participating in such an event.

And hell, while playing Ikariam, I found that it used a lot of the "principles" taught in my Project Management for Engineers course, such as the amazingly brilliant idea of parallel task execution. Need to ship out some resources and pillage stuff? Time the shipment so that the ships are freed up just before the pillage lands. OMG, time management skillzzz!!!

I was a guild leader in a MUD once. I was a lot of work. Some members were constantly screwing over others, stealing other's loot, or otherwise creating a bad rep for the guild in general. One pair even started summoning and killing mobs in town square where a lot of gods hung out invis, which spammed and pissed the gods off. So I had to constantly rein that type in, or kick them out, or arrange honor duels to resolve issues agreeably and whatnot.

Then there was making sure the younger members got equipped and leveled up either by yourself or someone else. They didn't bond with the guild well if you didn't pay them attention even if you had a ton of other things to do. Then there was buttering up the better PVP players and getting them to join so the guild could hold its own against others. Then there was managing the in game fortress and other properties. Then there was the guild web site. Making sure the guild wizards were enchanting items and creating potions. On and on.

You really have to be willing to work, deal with others, and forgo instant gratification. Although I had an alt character when I wanted to be off duty, heh.

I think putting that on my resume really landed me my first paper route.

I DIDN'T THINK SO!!

Did you have to buy your own mop or did they provide one for you?

Too bad I was neither a moderator or a Google employee.

Ewww...a Lincoln? Give it back.

I mean unless you're a 60 year old woman.

Pretty good chuckle but, not any more laughable than folks putting President of their fraternity/sorority on their resume.

Usually, the raid leader has more leadership abilities. When they speak on Ventrilo, they are very clear, no um's or ugh's, and are typically very good speakers.

The guild leader just pays for the web server and Bentrilo server.

My geek meter just exploded and hit me in the head with high velocity shrapnel. Did I really just read that?

I think you should put him to the top of the interview list. Record the interview with him. Have a computer with WoW on it and have him demonstrate his leadership skills to you. Then post the video.

controlling 50+ young men all living in 1 house can have a couple. Can't just hit a space bar and start over if something goes wrong. The fact you can't see real life > computer games is just amazing (but not surprising around here anymore).

I don't know, I reported to the campus on a monthly basis and they could expel me/us for fucking up, so I guess that's real life consequences. Let us not forget the vendors, landlords, police, etc and shit I had to deal with.

Tell me how many frats have been expelled from campus in the last 10 years. I'm pretty sure you won't have to take off your shoes to count them.

A former schoolmate of mine recently popped up on my facebook. I'm good friends with one of his coworkers. His coworker complains constantly that this guy spends half his day screwing off with WoW crap and stuff. Usually, starting a month before the renaissance fairs, he's busy designing his castle or some stupid shit, rather than designing what he's being paid for. But, along came facebook. During a phone call to my friend, "wtf does he do all day? All the stuff on facebook is time stamped. I'm betting your workday starts around 7:30, right? Because he's logged into facebook at 7:20. "Nope. He's supposed to start at 7:00, but is always late." Well, from 7:20 to around 10, it's face book this, buy friends, and all sorts of stupid crap that I thought would only appeal to 15 year olds. Not sure what he does from 10 to 11:30, but then he's usually back on facebook for a couple more hours, takes a break from 1 to 2, then is back on facebook til about 3. Fast forward a few days after my friend got the information about the time stamps... The message on facebook says "I wonder if it'd just be easier if I quit."
