Why would Bill cut the price on the 360? This is a great opportunity for them to maybe turn a profit on the console itself.

If anything, talk about bundling the HD-DVD drive in on some SKUs.

Back to the PS3...knowing Sony's history I had low expectations for them with this E3 after they over-hyped the PS3 last year. I think they dipped below my lowered expectations.

Honestly, I was expecting a high price and one HDMI output. To put out their own 'tard bundle at these prices with a gimmicky ripoff controller at the last second put them way beneath my lowered expectations.

I'm sorry, but their decisions with regard to the controller are just indefensible IMO. No rumble really eats into the immersiveness of the game, and having experienced the Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro, I have no desire to return to having to carefully hold a controller vertical for fear of losing control. It was a dumb idea then and it's a dumb idea now.

Honestly I'm amazed by Sony's missteps in this round. IF MS does a good job with the HD-DVD drive, it will go a long way toward that format winning out over Blu-Ray IMO. That will all depend on design, pricing, and availability, however.

I like that they are sticking with what works in the controller design, and the new gimmick is not a total rip of Wii, as it's done differently.

The one thing that Sony has on its side is the millions of fanboys out there that would pay $500 for a used tampon that says "PS3" on it.

It sounds like MS is doing the right thing with the HD-DVD drive now (connected via USB cable and it sounds like the console will do HDMI with a new cable). Now it just depends on the price point.

I don't disagree with you as to the physical design, but ditching rumble in favor of the multi-axis sensor is sheer stupidity. I also take exception to teasing the public with the boomerang design, then not releasing it.

They aren't releasing the boomerang design because there was such a negative reaction from the public to it.

Which is also stupid. People are making fun of the remote but nintendo is still going for it. As one nintendo guy said...You cant just listen to your custormers...if you did that then you would never innovate.

Also I believe they got rid of the rumble because they had to. They didnt settle in court with the company that had the patent on it so theycant use it anymore...correct?

Remember that Sony's controller isn't fully complete yet, Nintedo's conference is today, so they'll know what else they have to put in it by tommrow.

I'm with you on the new gimmick, but as long as I can turn it off I'm happy. I might be in the minorty, but I won't miss the rumble either.
I agree with you on the HD-DVD drive and the 360 too. IF they price it at the rumored $100 price that would be a huge blow to Sony.

If it came from J Alba most of the virgins on here would pay the same.

And a motion sensor in the controller. Jeeze, I wonder how they thought of that.

I have one of these. The tilting gimmic got old fast and wasn't useful at all. I don't see how it will be useful at all in the PS3, and to some extent, in the Wii. That one game they've already showcased for the Wii looks like it will use it in a neat way, but for normal games I think it'd be a gimmick that people get tired of.

which is why it will be able to snap into a normal controller.

And I'm sure some games will just use the buttons/analog stick on the nunchuck controller. It looks really ergonomic, Nintendo has been awesome about that at least lately (the wavebird is extremely comfortable.)

I bought one and returned it. It gets surprisingly fatiguing holding your arms in front of you for prolonged periods, and I always found it nearly impossible to accurately control.

Still, if it's true they have disabled rumble in favor of this "feature," they should have their heads examined.

Price seems reasonable to me.

$600 is a lot cheaper then the BR players coming out. HDTV guys will lap this up. $100 isn't too much imo if you don't go crazy spending on random stuff all the time.
$500 is an okay price point.

It is just a choice for the consumer.

I'll grab as many as I can and flog all but one for myself. I want T5 and GT5 dam it!

IF Sony ends up selling more units then Xbox360 in the next 36months then what? You guys will say all the drones that bought the PS3 have bad taste? How will we define who 'won' this console war? Who has the best games? Most number of consoles sold?

I don't care for the most popular console, just the one that has the games I want to play on. If that turns out to be Xbox360 I'll grab one again.
