How will we define who 'won' this console war? Who has the best games? Most number of consoles sold?

Whoever makes the most money (profit) is the winner, as they'll have the better chance of doing well in future rounds.

I wonder if $ony will be including their new screw the consumer technology in the PS3. You know.... the one that makes you have to rebuy all of your games if your console breaks. I highly doubt even $ony would be that stupid. Of course I never thought they'd start distributing root-kits either

By the time the PS3 comes out, 360 Premium will be $300...could be bad for Sony. Luckily for them they have a loyal fanbase (deservedly so, PS and PS2 were solid consoles). If Microsoft manages to get 40% or more of the market, it's a huge loss by Sony. Microsoft can afford to put billions into their console, Sony at the moment can't afford it quite as much.

Are you kidding me. Sony is huuuuuuuuuggggggeeeeee. While their market cap is nowhere near Microsoft, they did do $67B in sales last year compare to MS's $40B. They can afford it.

Why is Sony still 9.97 billion in debt?😕

Most companies are in debt due to the ability to leverage the debt and certain tax effects. Debt does not mean anything bad about the company as long as it is profitable, have a good return on the debt, etc.

Sales also do not matter, look at the bottom line. Sony might do a lot more in sales, but the cost of the sales (materials etc) is also a lot higher. It's certainly a lot cheaper to stamp out a CD/DVD (Microsoft) than to build a TV (Sony) 🙂
