Switching the words in a previous post is all it takes to impress you? That's actually fairly impressive in itself...

I remember a playoff, or championship, game where Jubbar was out with a migraine and Magic Johnson played center. It was one of the best basketball games I have ever seen.

Weak rant. Sounds like you need to grow up.

People that enjoy sports don't play sports or go out and have fun with friends? I enjoy watching sports, playing sports and playing TF2. Why do you care how people enjoy themselves? Posting your TF2 stats in a link is no different than someone showing their pride for their sport's team.

Nope, completely incorrect, read my last post.

Actually, you're incorrect. You assume that people that watch sports don't play them. They don't throw a football around, shoot hoops, go running, work-out, go out with friends, etc.

It's no different than playing TF2. It's a hobby that people enjoy.

edit - Do you watch tv, listen to music? Do you also perform on stage, write music and play an instrument?

Also, switching the words in my post made the second paragraph make absolutely zero sense. You think I should go out and start shooting people?

What you meant to say, was that it parallels watching professional gaming, which is incredibly stupid. I like TF2, so I play it. You like football, so play it. Neither of us should waste time watching other people do it.

Christ, OK, so maybe you aren't a douchebag - you're just clinically retarded. I apologize, I wasn't aware of your disability.

I was almost expecting it, actually. You took the least likely interpretation of whatever I say and turn it around on me. Fantastic. It's what message boards are all about. I need to spell this out as best as I can. This will be the last I comment on this matter.

Watching sports parallels playing video games in that they are forms of entertainment. Playing video games is an active activity (that means you actively participate in it). Watching sports is a passive activity (that means you don't actively participate in it - you let it happen to you). It is similar to watching TV, or watching a movie, or listening to music. What you are saying is the equivalent to, "I like music, I should not waste time listening to other people play it, I should play it myself." If you agree with this statement, then you are a fool.

I really hope you didn't think that I was talking about watching someone else play video games, or telling you to go out and shoot people. If you did, really - and I honestly mean this - go to a doctor, if you haven't already. You are quite possibly retarded.

No, I implied that they should always do it themselves. For instance, I would never, ever watch a professional gaming match.

Now, I guess if it's -40 degrees outside you can't really go outside, which is where the flaw in my statement lies.

Good for you. No need to call people that do pathetic and hence the need to grow up.

edit - Hope you don't go to movies, live theater or concerts.

The fact that you have the gall to call ME retarded is fascinating...

Playing sports and playing music are two entirely different things.

I didn't honestly infer that you wanted me to go shoot people. I was just pointing out the flaw in your "turn around" paragraph.

Nope, nope, and nope. Not because they are relevant to this topic (at ALL), but because they don't interest me.

I mean, occasionally I'll see the latest Pixar flick, but guess what? I'm currently in the midst of animation school...

How did you even remotely come to THAT conclusion? I don't do something... yet that means the same thing I said for people who do?

While it's not always feasible, go out and actually play the sport yourself. Have some fun with friends. Maybe you'd lose a little weight too. If you watch sports occasionally, when nothing else is on, then that's dandy. But all of the idiots out there who buy team dolls, wallpapers, plushies, jerseys, and paint their faces and go to every single god damn game?: Grow the hell up.

why can't you do both oh mr. elitist?

EDIT:

wow this Beev dude is a complete idiot.

so basically anyone who doesn't do exactly what you do is pathetic?

I just want to be clear... watching sporting events, an activity predominantly done by adults for thousands of years, is more pathetic than playing video games, an activity predominantly done by children?

Video games have moved into the adult realm for about the last decade more and more.

Especially with things like the Wii.

I came off strongly (read: retardedly) in my first post, and I admit that, still doesn't change the fact they all of the football fans came out of the woodwork and tried to compare their oranges to my apples.

Its funny how sports like NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, F1, Nascar, etc all have athletes that earn outrageous amounts of salaries and contract tons of money completely not based on their performance. They can do absolutely awful and yet earn millions year after year.
Then you have a sport like horse racing. A jockey only earns as much as good as he is. If he doesn't win or do well he doesn't get paid except a riding rate (usually a very small fraction of winning $ - I know our jockey doesnt get more than $20 a race if he losses badly)- plain and simple. I don't get how we got down this path with 'professional' sports paying for non-performance while horse racing seems to be the only sport that actually rewards performance.

Well I don't have statistics available but I'm willing to wager that the average age is still pretty low. The last time I played UT online it was like a pimply teenaged sausagefest.

Actually I thought it was something like 30 years old.

Here's what a quick search turned up:
