the tearing is incredibe without vsync (no other engine tears like this for me without vsync)

...gameplay could be fun tho...

runs very nicely on my 6600GT tho..i didn't expect to be able to run a mid 2006 game with 2xAA/8xAF at 1024 and every detail maxed

That nvidia architecture is awesome with the D3 engine. After having trouble running it to my satisfaction with a 9800 Pro and having bought a 6800U (yeah...), seeing a 6600GT tear it up at 1280*1024 like that with some good settings was crazy. I mean, the 9800 Pro has a clear edge in bandwidth, and the fill rates are close (oc'd 9800 Pro, anyone?) so the advantage due to architectural differences was (is) fairly staggering IMHO.

I'd trade mildly faster farcry with AA with my old 9800 pro for vastly faster d3 engined games with my 6600GT 😱

That's just me tho 😱

I just was pointing out that the 6600GT has a seemingly 2x advantage over the 9800 Pro in these games despite the nearly same specs (give or take). FWIW, the Far Cry engine has only been used once, so the D3 is probably a bit more useful.

I really disliked Far Cry after the first 2 hours of gameplay, too, so that might be part of my bias 😉

Ugh, where did my reply go? Anyway, I said that the difference in D3 was staggering enough for me that it forever sealed the fate of the 9800 Pro. In any case, I didn't care for much besides the visuals in Far Cry, so I suppose that is where my bias comes from 😉

Agreed that is should be in a dropdown menu... but, apparently:
As this game runs on the Doom Engine, it has same solution as Doom 3/ Quake 4, etc.

It does have the built in functionality to choose the correct aspect ratio in-game which will set the FOV accordingly.

Custom resolutions are still done through the .cfg file afaik.

...haven't confirmed this yet.

Yeah... 9800 pro vs. 6600 GT was a fun battle. I had a 9800 XT (got it cheap, please don't flame!) and my friends had 6600 GTs (4 of em have them, one has upgraded since). As I said before, my PC is down but i've got a 7600 GT. Doom 3 was NOT fun on a 9800 card.

I got SLI too and the tearing was insane. In Half-Life 2 (or any source engine game) I don't really need vsync on becasue I don't really notice the tearing. I'm sure that it's there, but I just don't seem to notice it in that game.

Well what did you expect from a game that uses the D3 engine? 😀
I like the fact though that it scales good on mainstream gpus... 1 hr left to see it 😛

Fun demo, dont care much for the graphics. It looks like a Doom3 TC. The walls look crappy, and its the same 8-bit color look I dont like. Game is fun, graphics are not very good. But if I were to have my choice, Id choose gameplay, so all is not lost.

WS works fine. just have to add custom_height/custom_width in the .cfg file

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"

The dodgy gravity is a lot of fun, when you get transported onto that rock in the box. Very cool. Graphics are pretty good, basically very quake4-esque.

I never liked the D3 engine but this game is so fun it makes up for it, plus, it runs smooth on my 7900GT 😀

....don't hate, I stepped up

look for preyconfig.cfg in the /base folder and make sure that the following lines match for your desired resolution:

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"
seta r_mode "-1" <--- can't forget that...
...from WSGF

all I can say about the demo is, "whoa!"

...that and that it does look a lot like Doom3, but it's a much more fun and interesting. I will definitely be picking this one up.

Would have been good to know 30 mins ago... just finished the demo with stretched 1280x1024. Ran smoothly -- always 60 fps.

The upside down thing makes me dizzy -- nay -- MADE me dizzy
