mIRC's usage of /slap was a reference to Monty Python's Fish Slapping Dance.
Geekbabe might be familiar with it since she is after all, a geek at heart :)

Also, BitchX is a much better client than mIRC.

I just came in here to check on ya Hay.

I guess it's good news that the Trumper is alive and kicking.

Prayer works! <--- just kidding, I'm not religious like that but your sanity prevailed and that sir is impressive. Well done!

Alive and kicking and probably stronger than ever due to the fact that a so called liberal didn't even have the balls to call him out on his bullshit.

Had the guy been a progressive or one of those new Democratic socialist, you'd bet your ass hayabusa would have talked/argued with him and put him in his place. Its people like hayabusa, who have for the last decade, remained silent around righties, that have allowed the movement to grow, all while condemning those on the left for not putting forth solutions that solve 100% of a problem.

My sympathy for him lasted for a day and stopped when I realized he was going to sit there and take it.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. I like Hay.

I had to deal with something similar recently. I"m at the dentist getting my teeth cleaned last month and the hygienist goes fucking batshit. She's a 50-something divorcee who's upset because she can't find a husband because she's "a Christian and a Republican." Turns out the rich guy she's been dating won't commit because he can't get past first base. And she wants him to commit because her real god is money, but her "Christian values" get in the way. And then she goes into a long rant about how Democrats are evil because equal rights for everyone somehow mean fewer rights for white Christians, and then this devolves into some outrageously un-Christian nonsense about how minorities, the homeless, and the poor deserve what they get because Christ "demands consequences."
All this while I'm getting my teeth cleaned and unable to say anything back. I fucking shit you not.
I've been seeing this dentist for like 20 years, and he does great work (I'm of British heritage and grew up without fluoridated water, so yeah, I've needed some work), and we've discussed politics in the past, and I've known he's hardcore Republican and never had a problem with it, but.. I think I need to find another dentist..
Holy crap! Yep, sounds like time to move on. Hell, I don't go to my neighborhood saloon due to Trump. Nothing worse than long haired, pot smoking, red necks.

My point was; letting these folks go unchallenged is not a good idea. All we do when we ignore it is create bubbles for ourselves. Segregation in any form, in the long run, is not good for humanity let alone this country.

I'm stuck in a camper with a Trumper. He started in on Hillary and I went into how the French revolution played out and the cycles of history.

Try calling him a deplorable and a homophobic racist nazi repeatedly. I hear that is a very successful tactic. If that fails, find a safe space ASAP!

No. You just write them off. Add them to the list of people who like Russia better than the United States. You then work from there.

If he calls him those things and it doesn't go well, wouldn't that indicate that it's the other guy who need a safe space?

No need to answer, we know you were just protecting your own feelings. You are the real victim here.

I don't disagree but I wouldn't mess up my vacation for it. Real life has an ebb and flow that selfishness gets to win sometimes.

Why would he need a safe space? Could it be because Trumper's are volatile, unpredictable, unstable, racist, homophobic, deplorable, pieces of shit?

I went to a museum today with the group and he was maligning Chinese while a Chinese woman and her young daughter sat 5 feet away.

I keep peace because he's attached to my wife's lifelong friend. Sometimes there are no good options but I'm out of there tomorrow AM.

He was complaining to someone about obamaphones. Seriously. Yesterday.

Funny you should mention motorcycles. Naturally he's a Harley guy so i asked him what he'll do in the likely event the tariffs and Trump's boycott kills HD.

He had no idea and no answer.
If he's a Harley rider he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

His vacation is already messed up, hence the thread about a trump supporter he's stuck dealing with.

Instead of calling out his bullshit while he makes fun of the Chinese, hayabusa let it go and now that Asian family and that young kid will have a negative impression of Americans. It seems small and insignificant but little things over time can have a profound affect on the future (I'm sure you've heard of the butterfly affect).

Of course. And I am the type of person who would have told the Fu*k to shut his foul mouth. My husband? He would never say anything though. He's the kind of guy that is live and let live. He doesn't like to stir things up. I don't hate him for it though on occasion I've been disappointed.

No, the vacation wasn't ruined. I'm sure the guy is acceptable-ish when he's not talking shit. Ah hell, what do I know. I would never find myself in Hay's situation.

The last time I was around a prejudice person he was a Canadian sparing on my softball team who loathes Americans. I walked away from him with him fully aware that I thought he was a piece of shit and never let him spare on my team again. Even played a couple of games short a player. He wanted to play.

You don't create a thread on a message board while on vacation about someone you are on vacation with unless they are ruining your vacation. I'm just saying.

These guys just don't get it that the people they constantly say hateful shit about are our friends, coworkers, and family members.

So I made it home as I was done. I had a good time with my wife and this trip was for her to see her friend. I left without making a scene because as good it might have felt the friend would have to deal with the fallout. I was not willing to do that.
