How about telling him that you are a facts kind of guy and ask him if he has a good source for whatever claim he is making. When he gives you some bullshit source, ask him why he this that's a good source. Continue questioning him but never as if you are talking down to him. Instead, pretend you are a young child who asks a question and whose answer only results the child asking, "why".

Continue down this path and eventually he'll come to a wall and either give up trying to talk to you or he will start to question himself. Both are good.

However this is no easy task and the amount of frustration you'll likely go through may not be worth it.

I had to deal with something similar recently. I"m at the dentist getting my teeth cleaned last month and the hygienist goes fucking batshit. She's a 50-something divorcee who's upset because she can't find a husband because she's "a Christian and a Republican." Turns out the rich guy she's been dating won't commit because he can't get past first base. And she wants him to commit because her real god is money, but her "Christian values" get in the way. And then she goes into a long rant about how Democrats are evil because equal rights for everyone somehow mean fewer rights for white Christians, and then this devolves into some outrageously un-Christian nonsense about how minorities, the homeless, and the poor deserve what they get because Christ "demands consequences."
All this while I'm getting my teeth cleaned and unable to say anything back. I fucking shit you not.
I've been seeing this dentist for like 20 years, and he does great work (I'm of British heritage and grew up without fluoridated water, so yeah, I've needed some work), and we've discussed politics in the past, and I've known he's hardcore Republican and never had a problem with it, but.. I think I need to find another dentist..

The problem with being more conscious than other people is that you know it's your moral duty to take the shitty end of the stick because those less conscious comparatively have no idea what they are doing. The man was a Christian like they ought to be and color never mattered one bit. I think I was 5 or 6, don't really remember but when it got dark people came in (all black because that's how it was except for my neighbor and me) and guitars, women and drink too. I was a little nervous because I've seen none of this but I was a welcome curiousity, just a pup who listened to music I never heard before and sat on the laps of "professional" women and cooed over. I hadn't thought about it until your earlier post and for some reason it came back as best as memory can serve. I was even given a guitar which had no idea about, never seen one before, but bless everyone they treated me right.
