You just basically recited my quote.

What you are proposing though is you'd have right of way if you decided to go play in traffic, versus crossing at a crosswalk when signaled to do so.

I don't have a boat currently, but was on the water almost every weekend/holiday for a little over 5 years and still often, just on other's boats.

The boats by the hour rental crowd are the WalMart shoppers of the ocean...

Actually, boat ownership is pretty fucking stupid. it's one of the worst money sinks out there.

This probably explains why you are no longer a boat owner. You probably don't accept the fact of your poor decisions, though--simply bitter over the fact that you no longer have your boat.

No it's because we wanted a bigger boat.

However, boats should be a disposable income matter not one you are sacrificing savings or livelihood with.

Blowing a motor is a five figure deal.

That's because they're the ones breaking the rules and they're usually operating something that makes them even more obvious. My personal hatred is towards jetski's. More often than not those people are fucking idiots.

If by "jetski's" you mean Personal Water Craft, why all the hate? I rather enjoy cruising around on my Sea Doo all the while obeying the rules of the water. I ride in both open waters and congested channels. There are water smart PWC'ers out there.

AND, Alky is wrong....most all the time actually.

Either:

--You could no longer afford your boat.

or

--Busted too many times by coast guard in blatant violation of maritime law.

which was it?

it's because the vast majority of waverunners, or whatever they are called these days, tend to be zipping through no wake zones and playing chicken with each other and other dumbshit shenanigans.

They'll go into places where they don't belong--preserved marsh land where they dump oil and fuel into pristine water--or tend to be generally loud, obnoxious, and outright disruptive of other people on the water.

Sure, responsible riders exist, but it is a universal assumption for a reason.

LOL...go back to the part where my dad funded it. Actually probably looking at getting an island boat next year sometime for Peanut Island nearby.

It's rare I want to run 20+ miles out anymore.

Thanks for being concerned.

I don't like your universal assumption :(

I have owned a power boat (14' Aluminum with a 20 HP) for 20 years. The only occasion where I came close to a collision was when a sailboat just about rammed us while we were trying to catch mackerels out in the middle of the Halifax harbor with the engine turned off.

Power boat owner don't have a monopoly on the clueless dumbfuckness.

And I would like to thank everybody in this thread for the ass whooping poor old Alky is getting. LOL, well done.

If you are referring to the OP, didn't he state he's been boating since he was 5? I would agree that you are a bit more clueless than you would like to believe.

The only reason you run out that far is for oceanic pelagic fish. No way a person who has caught numerous large tuna or dolphin or marlin would give it up for a little 10# bass.

And what the fuck is an island boat? A pontoon?
