If Sessions ends up going, whether actually fired or simply being pressured by relentless criticism to resign, then anyone offered the job would have to be crazy to take it, or at least would have to believe that the short-term prestige of holding the position would outweigh the misery and the blow to one's self-esteem of having Trump as a boss.

It would be sort of like agreeing to date a serial philanderer and abuser; you'd have to be able to convince yourself that he's really going to reform, and he's not going to treat you exactly the same way that he treated all those other people. Of course, both Christie and Giuliani seem to possess the type of relentless self-promotion and lack of concern for ethical behavior that might lead them to ignore all of that and take the job anyway.

Having said that, I don't think Sessions will resign, he's already been replaced in the Senate and the next Senate election in Alabama isn't until 2020. He might run for Governor, but he's more a creature of Washington and I don't know how that would play out. If Trump is his usual mean-spirited self, he'll wait until August 16th (the day after the Primary election is held) to fire Sessions, just so he can't try and jump back into his seat.

For the above to happen, Trump would have to know something about the electoral process to do that with intent. He's far too clueless so it only happens if somebody happens to mention it to him. Or it shows up on Fox News.

Trump should ask for Homie the Clown to replace him.:p When the press asks a question he doesn't like he can respond with "Homie don't play that" and move on.:D It would fit right in with the clown car administration he's got right now.

Lindsey Graham is apparently on a roll against Trump. Will intro legislation prohibiting firing of Special Counsel. Threatening Trump over the possibility of firing Sessions. Says "would be the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency".

Should be noted that Sessions and Graham are good friends.

I have to say Graham's conduct for the last 6 months or so has been on point.
I don't agree with his Politics. I do have to admit he is acting appropriately

What it will really take is being offered a really sweet deal. Trump will get someone to do his dirty work by bribing them with something they want bad enough to end their career. He will appoint them to the position, they will fire Mueller, then Trump will throw them to the wolves to cover his own ass. Then a few months later, after the media has moved on, that scapegoat will get a multi-million dollar job doing nothing for one of Trumps cronies.

The problem is that the Senate is going to block another AG nomination. Grassley said that there is no way they're considering another AG nom in the Judiciary committee this year and the Senate will be kept technically in session to prevent a recess appointment. Jeff Sessions, while alienated from Trump, feels pretty safe to just keep quiet and pretend it's business as usual.

That said it's clear that Trump and his family would prefer him to be gone and they haven't exactly been good heeders of advice that everyone is giving them. More bad Russia investigation news that hits his family could tip it over.

Sort of like marrying DJT for his third time?
or
Doing business with a serial bankruptcy filer?
or
Doing business with someone who doesn't pay his bills?

Yeah...the problem for Trump is that he's pissed about The Russia Thing. So he wants to get rid of Sessions and get a new Attorney General who will make the Russia thing go away. Trump thinks he can fire Sessions and the problem is over. Except Kushner and probably Priebus sat him down and explained to him that he was not allowed to fire Sessions, because firing Sessions won't make the Russia thing go away.

But Trump wants to fire Sessions! But Trump can't fire Sessions! That makes Trump angry! So what does he do next? He complains like a child on Twitter.

If Trump were not an idiot, he'd have said "We welcome this bullshit investigation that will clear our names, now let's get on with making America great again," and then shut up the fuk up about it. Or, he'd fire Sessions, and probably Rosenstein, Mueller, and McCabe too, and dare Congress to do something about it. He's not tough enough for number 2, and he's temperamentally incapable of number 1, so he goes on Twitter and complains about how unfair it is.

Typical republicans talk about the importance of parenting, disciplining your children to act like adults. Harsh, perhaps capital punishment when necessary.

But they voted for Donald Trump: the clear result of zero parenting. And they love the guy. They fucking love him.

Rather makes sense the pathologically dishonest relate to one of their own.

Don't forget that Trump was an exceptionally talented reality show host.

I give Trump about another couple of weeks before he REALLY wigs out and starts riling up his nutjob base to storm the halls of Congress demanding a health care plan that yields much more tax cuts for himself than before, ransack Mueller's office for any files titled "I got the goods on Trump" and picket Session's house demanding that he resign.......like yesterday.

That I find myself rooting for Sessions to hang in there is really hilarious yet troubling to say the least.

This Trump administration, if you could actually call it that, it's like having the Hindenburg crash landing in flames onto the deck of the Titanic as it sinks into the abyss. And this Repub controlled House and Senate of ours is like the Three Stooges picking a fight with...............the Three Stooges.

This is insanity being celebrated at the gates of hell.

Looks like Grassley saying that there would be no AG confirmation hearings until 2018 has saved Session's job.

Sessions big hot button is marijuana when the opioids are certainly a much bigger problem for the US. Of course Sessions is old and has apparently not moved forward with the times.

Only in republican La La Land can the non toxic cannabis plant be seen as an evil competitor for something that is exacting a 9/11 death toll on the country every three weeks. Absolute horseshit as usual for Il Douche to not declare an emergency IMO. Fuck New Hampshire and all the other 'drug dens' right? Sessions is more concerned about leaks and not getting fired, and of course, saving good people from the Devil's lettuce.

The elf thinks DARE is worth another shot, sorry, I forgot about that one!

It's the gateway drug. Do away with pot and no one will ever try harder drugs again.

But these are also the same people who think supply side economics work.

Safe to say that critical thinking skills are not their strong suit.
