Poll: What's the fastest you have personally driven?

I'd like to know how fast you have actually driven a vehicle. I'd like to avoid those that are pilots, astronauts and sky-diving board surfers... I'm talking ground vehicles here.

I had a '84 Mustang GT that pulled a 11.8 @ 116mph, I had that up to about 120mph. I also used to have a '87 GT, and even though the speedo only went to 85, I found a formula in Motor Trend that let me calculate my engine rpm in 4th gear, and I had done about 140 for 1 or 2 minutes.

I was a passenger on my friends '85 Yamaha Vmax, we hit ~115, and I was scared to death.

140+ back in '87 down in sandiego heading to L.A. in a 68 droptop vette 427 / 4 speed ..........seatbelts...we don't need no stinkin seatbelts ...😉

i topped out my car last week going from irvine spectrum -> denny's on culver/5 freeway

138, 6k w/a 7400 redline, i think i have a governer (thank god)

not recommended

Real life: 75ish. I think it might be governed there.
Gran Turismo 3: 250+ 😉

Not counting the track adventures with the turbovan.

120

Dodge Neon downhill,

110 Ford Tempo, downhill in a hurricane.

110 honda civic, about 10 of us in a row on the highway, a few got pulled over.

About 143 in my 88 Camaro IROC-Z. After I replaced basically all of the suspension and steering components.

Wasn't going to try that on fifteen year old stock parts.🙂

115MPH in my 1990 E30 325i. Was pretty scary, and the person whom I was following was going faster than that, and then got pulled over (him not me).

Edit:

The fastest I've gone in my 1992 E34 525i so far is around 100/105, but can definitely go around 120+. I haven't had any "safe" chances to reach those speeds yet. The E34 is also a lot smoother and feels very stable in the triple digits.

165mph when test driving my old Supra. Scared the piss out of me, since then, I never got it above 120mph, and that was on the track. I don't speed (more than 5-10mph) on streets anymore.

I think if I had the money, I'd just buy a car with 12 gears, or something, and just replace the transmission every time it blew. 😛

146 in my BMW E46 3-series (speed governor removed) smooth as silk
129 in my 1969 Corvette (red line limited) a little scary
128 in my BMW E39 5-series (governed) felt like I was standing still

120 in my neon sport. The vibrations were so bad that I was afraid that it was going to fall apart and I would be left sitting in the middle of the road with the steering whell still in my hand like in the cartoons.

in my car? about 110. i had a mustang GT when i was younger. around 110 it would shake real bad.

now on my Honda CBR F4 i have gone faster. about 120 when passing someone. probably faster at times. But i never really pushed it.

~110 in my v6 honda accord on the highway, but it was at night and snowing so I slowed back down. I wanted more though 🙂 Maybe some day I will take it out on a back road and see what it can do! Any idea what the governor on a 97 accord is set at?
