Uh no.
According to them they never felt safe in the car, too small. They all drove SUVs.
My fiancee hated it because you could never carry anything in it and when we started dating it was my only car.

Being involved in your driving, shifting gears manually, listening to the engine, responding to the road, taking a curve at high speed, are all typically "manly" things to do with a car. It just so happens that the Miata also does these things VERY well.

Women treat cars like appliances. Miatas are NOT an appliance. They are for pure driving fun. How is that not manly?

Other cars I have a hard time classifying as m/f

V6 Mustang - Chick car, esp. if its a convertible.
Same goes for a V6 Camaro.

Uh huh, and what percentage of other cars do you think are male buyers? Much higher I'd bet. Reason? It's more likely that in a marriage the guy will have the car on his name. I don't have numbers, but I would be shocked if that isn't signifcantly the case. So, let's say that 70% of v6 accord buyers are male (even if their wife drives it), but only 60% of miatas are - well that shows a big lean from women.

It's a nice car - it's still no masculine. This isn't based on studies or laws, but general impressions - impressions that this poll is backing up. It's subjective opinion. If you're in a miata you have to realize a lot of guys won't think you're that manly. If that others you don't drive one. If it doesn't, go for it.

Skoorb, I believe you have that analogy completely backwards.

Surprised to see no mention of the car's size, I can't imagine anyone over about 5'8" being even close to comfortable in one. It's like one of those miniature cars from FAO Schwartz in terms of size. I'm only 6'1" and I've never had a more painful car experience (including being in a pretty bad accident) than contorting myself to fit in a Miata 😛 Hard to be a mens' car when most cant' even fit in one.
