shifrbv "Quietly going around and detaining people without due process."

Proof?

Was watching some news documentary show the other night, maybe Crossfire or some show similar, which had a lawyer on talking about hundreds of middle-easterners being picked up and detained without due process. He said there were instances of families who didn't know where their relatives were, etc. In my state, there was a recent incident of 7 middle-eastern men who worked together at a restaurant owned by one of the middle-eastern men being picked up and detained for about a week. They were just released yesterday with no charges. I'm not sure how they were able to hold them for this long, but that's what the local news stated happened.

Also saw this article on CNN:

Why Middle-Easterners In The US Are Worried

This quote was particularly interesting:

"Clearly, the situation has required law enforcement authorities to act quickly. No doubt most Americans take some comfort in these round-ups - but they may frighten those of Middle Eastern descent.

So far, several hundred Middle Eastern aliens have been arrested. On September 18, the Department of Justice advised the INS that "they could hold immigrants without charges for 48 hours - doubling the typical 24-hour period. Moreover, even the doubled period can be waived (indefinitely) in "extraordinary circumstances."

"Chief Justice Rehnquist has stated, in a speech about civil liberties in times of war, that "[t]he authority of the government to deal with enemy aliens in time of war, according to established case law from our Court, is virtually plenary." The chief justice has also written that the laws are silent in times of war.

In short, immigrants can take little comfort in our Constitution and laws, for it seems that the government can do almost anything it wants in time of war. "

It seems the "extraordinary circumstances" clause has been justified for almost anything especially after the horrendous nature of these attacks and no one yet claiming responsibility for them.

Frysinsider,

You're a gutless punk. Tripleshot is a belligerent dickhead who is frequently wrong, but he is no pussy. You, OTOH, are a little bark muncher, and would crap your diaper if your worthless peacenik ass ever had to face him in the real world.

Perhaps, but I'm trying to mellow out. I think I've seen the light.

Read a few more of my latest posts. I'm becoming anti liberal. ;)

<< the attack was a muslim thing, not just arab >>

Sigh. I think it is strange that people still do not get the real issue, it was a TERRORIST "thing" NOT muslim, NOT arab.

Listen to the President, i am pretty sure you could find a link.

I do not think Tripleshot is unpatriotic, he is VERY patriotic, he has fought for this great country and he deserves credit for that. I do not agree with his opinions though, he has a problem with every american that is not just like him.

And no, i do not believe that prison camps for arabs is a good idea, if we can even go to prison camps, what will happen if it get's even worse and it does defeat the very idea of the US.

<< Don't you think you should make a distinction between Arab Muslims and non-Muslim Arabs in your original question? >>

StormRider, wouldn't terrorist-arabs and non-terrorist-arabs be a better choice? Are all muslim arabs terrorists?

It is a war against terrorism, not islam, you can read it in the news, you can see it on TV, you can hear the US president say it, but still you do not get it.

Yeah like either of you senior citizen butt buddies would do anything about it.
Threats of physical violence from a bbs are pathetic!

Oh and Tripleshot, why don't you stop pm'ing me asking for my address...
I'm not interested in your amorous advances. If you had half a brain you
could have easily found my address by now.

<< I'll tell you this: I would never go. I would rather die than to be locked up unjustily like some animal. >>

If it ever came to that i would fight for your right to be free, and so should everyone who calles himself an AMERICAN.

The fights i have fought in for America in Bosnia were fights for the freedom and safety from the people who wanted them locked up or killed, i could fight the same fight within America for the freedom of the Americans.

Anyone who could not do that is not a true Patriot. As well as preserving peace and freedom outside our great nation, we should never hesitate to do the same within our great nation.

Patriotism is about defending the very idea of America, freedom and justice for ALL, nothing else.

Josh3D- those are nice "sentiments".

Frysinsider- I would love nothing more than to see you wise up. grow up. and contribute something original from that two-bit sized brain of yours.

I don't understand why you get under my skin so much, it is not like you lobbed any of your stupid remarks towards me.

I think it is because I just can't stand young people that are gutless.....and rude.

This may not do the trick. If you think I'm too old to spank your ass, you are dead wrong. I'm 8 hours from LA and I have nothing but time on my hands. You could have replied in PM. You really are lower than snail snot. Anytime you want to take it to the street, mofo.

<< I already nailed Luckster. You notice he didn't deny my accusations. >>

I hate to say this, but every post I read of yours, Texmaster, I just imagine you sitting in a lawn chair on your front porch with a shotgun and a big dog laying beside you. In other words, a typical "redneck".
Then I noticed your profile, for City said " RED BLOODED AMERICAN", and my vision became a reality.

I can't believe you're still wasting your time pushing this prison camp issue. If you're such a "RED BLOODED AMERICAN", you should respect the "freedom" of American citizens, and the idea of locking up said citizens against their will should appall you.

<< I posted this in the other thread but it was ignored & now I see even more talk about internment camps! I vote NO. I have heard one on this forum say not to question his patriotism because he served in Vietnam. That's well and good but one's service in Vietnam does not give the right to deny the patriotism of others. That's what I say... as a Vietnam era vet and a disabled Desert Storm vet...so, here's my thoughts again:

"This is war. If round eyed blonde headed white skinned people are targets, I could care less if every middle eastern person was interned. It may be for thier safety as well as ours."

I am middle eastern in ancestry and I look exactly like my late Jordanian parents. I was born and raised here though and am 100% American. I am a medically retired US Army Medical Corps officer - top graduate of many of the US Army's top schools. You however are suggesting it would be OK for me to be interned?

Would you like every member of government of middle eastern ancestry removed from office, from civil service, from the military and interned?

You suggest my daughter should be jerked out of college & interned? You'd better come steal the DFC out of my curio cabinet, my commission off my wall, my step-son's west point sword as you try to do it.... but you should also realize that the moment you try to do that you destroy all that we stand for as a nation..
>>

Your point is excellent, thank you. For those who do not "get it", however, let me ask: what do you plan to do with all the people who do not look "Arabic" who are out there planning similar attacks??? Even if we could justify internment camps (which I think is unacceptable) it would not necessarily help. There are plenty of freaks out there who won't fit your profile.

Now why the hell did you post all Fry's information like that? Grow up. That was totally unnecessary. A quote from Reservoir Dogs, "Why don't we settle this with a fvcking conversation?". If you have a personal problem with Fry, talk to him via PM - don't involve the rest of ATOT in your immaturity.

it is wrong to punish the many for the actions of few.

I think it reads, "The needs of the many (America) outwieght the needs of the few (Arab-Americans)"

I am not saying that there are only a "few" arab americans in this country. But from a government standpoint (Those fat bastards in a smokey darklit room ) that is a more accurate representation.

Just thought I would let you know. ;)

Like I said before, threats of physical violence against users here are pathetic!
