I remember a time when we had this one HISPANIC gardner...he was a very hard worker. He did a few houses up and down our street. He worked alone but did a great job. He was always nice and smiling and never complained. One day i was working in this retail computer shop in sales and my gardner comes in from a hard day's work. In his hand were a few brouchures and flyers from other shops and big companies. I went over to him and greeted him. I asked how i could be of service...he was looking for a computer to buy for his kids and their school education. After that i had the upmost respect towards him. It felt good shaking a man's hand who works hard and breaks their back for their family and do it the honest way.

If i met you in person i'd probably be the living crap out of you.

are you speaking to me?

I've heard that mexicans are starting to get offended by the handle of "mexican". They now want to be called "Spanish Americans".

Stupid mexicans.

I've never heard this, ever and I am mexican.

Are you from Mexico?

Oh boy. Here we go. Are you making some kind of reference towards us calling ourselves Mexican, when in fact we were born in the USA? Just wondering. Truth is it doesn't matter to me. Hispanic, Latino, Mexican-American...I could really give a damn. Yes, I was born here. Yes, I served in the US Military for 10 years, and does it upset you that I can call myself a Mexican?
Well if your folks were born in Germany and you were born here would you call yourself a German?

My folks were born here too, and I wouldn't know. I'm not German. Would it matter what I called myself if I was?
Call yourself anything you like. In California there are a lot of people who are of Mexican Heritage that are 5 or 6 generation or more Californians . These Californians are as American as any Pale Face and the only thing Mexican about them is their Surname. They aren't the ones Mowing the lawns, it's the Immigrants straight from Mexico or Central America (A Lot of San Salvadorians in Central Ca.)

I mow my own... but I often wait too long to do it. :) Still beats paying ~$300/yr. for someone else to do it for me.

i pay 420 but they do do it every single week. I could pay 210 if i want them to do it every 2 weeks

That's all? I was mowing my parent's lawn 2 weeks ago and a Mexican guy in a van stopped and talked to me. He was offering his services (cutting grass, yard work etc) and I just said that this wasn't my house and I was the son of the owner and was just cutting the grass for my dad (I don't live there anymore).

Anyways, he gave me a card and left. As he left, I started to wish that I could hire him to cut my father's grass because I was getting tired of doing it. But then I thought, "Dang, that's too expensive -- it'll probably cost $40 to cut this lawn and that would be $160/month -- nahhhh, I'll just continue to cut the grass)

I can't believe they only charge $420/year to cut the grass every week!!!

BTW, I also have very high opinions on hispanic/latino workers. They remind me of my parents. My parents worked long hours at Chinese restaurants to enable me to have a good life. They made a lot of sacrefices. And I see the same qualities in many of these hispanic/latino workers. Most of them are honest hard workers with strong family values. What's even more amazing is that some of them have enlisted in our armed forces and died in Iraq -- serving our country. And some were not even American citizens!

That's why it doesn't really bother me that some of them might be "illegal" aliens. Most of them like this country (and its people) and only want to make money to support their families. They give so much more to this country than take (some of them or their children might have made the utimate sacrefice in Iraq).

Mexican Americans don't like to just get into gang fights,
they like flowers and music and white girls named Debbie too.

Mexican Americans are named Chata and Chella and Chima
and have a son in law named jeff.

Mexican Americans don't like to get up early in the morning
but they have to so they do it real slow.

Mexican Americans love education so they go to night school
and they take spanish and get a B.

Mexican Americans love their Nana's and their Nono's and their
Nena's and their Neno's........ Nano Nano Nena Nono!

Mexican Americans don't like to go to the movies where the
dude has to wear contact lenses to make his blue eyes brown
cause don't it make my brown eyes blue.....

"And thats all i got, how do ya like it?"

Since this thread is a joke of a thread, I thought I'd at least bring something actually humorous to it ;) Cheech rocks!

I work in the landscape biz, and when the companies I work with pick up day labor, 90% of the time they are all of Latino descent. Because they don't know any english they have to work the menial jobs. Guiding a mower in straight lines doesn't take any English on their part.

Yes, my brother in law mowes it. When my 7 week old son is old enough, he will then mow it. I have Mexicans all over the place. As a matter of fact, I have a Mexican cook and clean for me as well. Although I do call her my wife!

What's with the upheaval? They mow my lawn .. so what? Just because majority of the gardeners are Mexican doesn't make this a racial thread.

I have white boys mowing my lawn, and painting my house. They work for cheap (I can hire about 20 of them for a whole day with just an hour's worth of my salary)

They're really good for menial labor.
