Well apparently he turned off Bush's hurricane machine as it's been a very quiet year for them, so I gotta give him some credit.
:awe:

As a FL resident it was nice to go a year without one of them coming anywhere near us.

/cherrypicking well done sir.

How is that cherrypicking? Conservatives prefer Republicans, Liberals prefer Democrats. Moderates could go either way. This poll was skewed heavily in favor of polling a conservative base, more than double that of liberals. I just pointed out the facts that were in the same poll as was posted.

You can assume that most but not all liberals will be in favor of Obama and most but not all conservatives would be against him. So that would show by a fairly logical deduction that moderates overwhelmingly support Obama.

That's the big one. Plus my state added more tobacco tax along with sales tax on alcohol all thanks to Obama's continued destruction of jobs and the economy. So directly and indirectly he's costing me a lot of money. Toss in the tax hikes currently he's talked about it's going to get a lot worse.

This is why I urge everybody to save and compare your tax returns from 2008, 2009 and again in 2010 (that's the big one, that's when everybody is going to get screwed) to see just how much he is going to cost you.

-edit- 38 years old. Me and my fiancee have even discussed how we're going to deal with Obama's marriage penalty and tossed around not getting married because of it. So not only is he destroying the economy he is destroying families as well.

You're so full of shit, it's beyond belief. I'm sure you'd blame your tiny penis on Obama if you could get away with it too.

I thought liberals had the stereotype of blaming everyone else for their own problems.

What about my post is incorrect?

1) Obama raised taxes on cigarettes
2) Obama wants to let Bush tax cuts expire, that's raising taxes, he said he is going to do it and I believe him
3) Obama's tax plan includes a marriage penalty, meaning many married couples will pay more in taxes than if they were single, that is a fact. He has said so and it's outlined in his tax plans he submitted for the budget when he got into office. Including eliminating deductions, removing SS cap, etc. That is a MASSIVE tax increase that WILL happen.
4) Current healthcare bills have increased taxes or penalties

The only reason you think I'm full of it is because you haven't listened to what this man is saying or just aren't paying attention.

1) Stop smoking and making me pay higher premiums to compensate for your poor health choices.
2) Not renewing a tax cut that was written to expire is not the same as a tax increase.
3) Possible I suppose, but whatever. All those troops going to Afghanistan aren't going to pay for themselves. Would you rather borrow more money?
4) Too bad repubs shot down the public option that would've cut costs.

As terrible as Obama has been in his first year, he has one thing going for him: he still has time in office to try and do some positive things. At this point, it's still too early to call. If Obama stays on the destructive path he's on though, it will make a lot of people wish for the "good old days" of GWB.

It is natural that folk want Bush back. Self haters have a death wish. The party of death is a concentration of such folk. Everybody with an unconscious hate of life and self would miss Bush and fear Obama. Obama offers hope. Hope is the mind killer. It awakens memories of when one had the potential to become God as a baby. Hope awakens the deep traumatic fear of remembering our psychic death. Bush is the vortex of death sleep surrender and oblivion. He offers the slumber of emotional death. All the puss of the planet longs for him.

1) Obama raised taxes on cigarettes

Sin Taxes are nothing new and if it makes people want to quit smoking it is a HUGE benefit to society.
2) Obama wants to let Bush tax cuts expire, that's raising taxes, he said he is going to do it and I believe him

Bush tax cuts made the rich even richer and depleted the nations coffers.
4) Current healthcare bills have increased taxes or penalties

This is an assumption the bill hasn't even passed yet

I think the greatest foolishness of all (demonstrated by threads like these) is that people are OBVIOUSLY not learning their lesson. We are not in this economy mess b/c of anything Obama or Bush did, we are in this mess b/c individual people refused to say "no" to things they could not afford and purchased them on credit and then defaulted on the debts. Sure, our leaders put measures in place to enable this type of foolishness, but in the end no one forced anyone to take a bite of that apple.

Yes, yes, i know that financial institutions are also a part of the problem, but on the individual level, we have to make the right choices. It is unfortunate that so many in our society chose to make the wrong choices. And that choice is really one of the only things we have much control over.

In the first 11+ months of the Bush administration....what did he accomplish, and what happened in America in that time frame?

Do the same for the Obama administration.

Compare.

Choose which one you want.

In the first 11 months, Obama has put this nation into more debt than Bush ever did his 8 years. People complained about Bush "spending our country away" well that was pocket change D:

And if that wasn't enough, he's pushing real hard to pass an insane healthcare plan that will really bankrupt us.

Can't say that Obama is doing too great a job already with the stuff over in the ME. I thought he wanted to pull out of there? Hmm guess not :hmm:

Accumulated Federal Debt

Last 335 Days of Bush: $1.33 Trillion

Et tu, Sparky?

POLL: 44% of Americans want Dubbya back now

** One adult American in five (that would be 20% for the 'challenged') thinks the Sun revolves around the Earth.

** Only 1 in 4 Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment.

** Just 1 in 1,000 Americans can name all five First Amendment freedoms

** More than half of Americans can name at least two members of the Simpsons.

** Less than half (40%) of Americans can correctly identify and name the three branches of the Federal government.

** Just 19% of Americans understand that the Federal Budget ran a surplus in the late 1990s.

** In 2003, the Strategic Task Force on Education Abroad investigated Americans' knowledge of world affairs. The task force concluded: "America's ignorance of the outside world" is so great as to constitute a threat to national security.

Don't look below:

** Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances ....

Wingnuts are the most precious of fools, and the most amazing distributors of misinformation and denial. They readily accept and embrace lies from "their team", often embellish them. And they refuse to understand that a negative difference between income and expenditure is debt.

When Shrub&Co cut taxes, particularly at the top, in an effort to stimulate the economy, they embraced it, even though it obviously meant that debt would increase as a consequence. When their team invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, they cheered, even though taxes were inadequate to cover the expense. When total federal indebtedness nearly doubled in 8 years, they ignored that fact, and now deny it ever happened.

When their team allowed frenzied financial flimflammery to charge up to a speculative peak, forcing collapse, they cheered all the way up and then looked around for somebody else to blame when it fell down, never willing to admit they'd been duped, made victims of the greatest financial crime in history.

And now that the results of their own foolishness have come to haunt them, they wish the perps were back, because those perps at least told them what they wanted to hear, which has been the methodology of charlatans and demogogues throughout human history...

What are you smoking?

Smoking something can't cure your stupidity and blindness. You will have to bottom out before you can learn. But it is far more likely you will continue to believe in what is killing you right up until it is too late to prevent your suicide. An unconscious death wish isn't called unconscious without reason. So chortle on in your sleep. If you are luck you'll sleep right through the end.

I love people who say "the economy did so well under Bush" or "Obama's made the economy so much worse". You act like the economy is a car and the president drives it wherever he wants. How can you tell that the economy is doing poorly because of Obama's actions, or George Bushes? How do you know that the reason we are in this situation is not because of decisions made by banks years ago? How can you tell within weeks that an economic stimulus package is not working, when half the money has not even been spent yet, let alone had time to trickle down to the average person?

Most of all, how can you tell whether or not any economic stimulus package works? You can use the argument "well... unemployment is still rising, so the economy stimulus package must not have worked". What rate exactly is the unemployment rising at? Who's to say what the unemployment rate would have done if we didn't have an economic stimulus package? Do you have some kind of machine I don't know about that lets you see an alternate dimension where we had no economic stimulus package, and you're comparing our current reality with that one?

I'm sure there are economists who are capable of calculating these things and actually creating an accurate estimate at the effectiveness of something such as a stimulus package, but I am not one of them, and I have the brains to realize that, so I do not draw conclusions about the effectiveness of either President. I'll ask anyone who claims to know what's best for the economy, if you are smart enough to predict the behavior of an economy, then why aren't you a millionaire?
