This is why I urge everybody to save and compare your tax returns from 2008, 2009 and again in 2010 (that's the big one, that's when everybody is going to get screwed) to see just how much he is going to cost you.

-edit- 38 years old. Me and my fiancee have even discussed how we're going to deal with Obama's marriage penalty and tossed around not getting married because of it. So not only is he destroying the economy he is destroying families as well.

You're so full of shit, it's beyond belief. I'm sure you'd blame your tiny penis on Obama if you could get away with it too.

Hey hey hey you can't say that about him here, he is "protected"

Enjoy your two weeks elsewhere Dave

Economy Made Few Gains in Bush Years

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/11/AR2009011102301.html

Eight-Year Period Is Weakest in Decades

President Bush has presided over the weakest eight-year span for the U.S. economy in decades, according to an analysis of key data, and economists across the ideological spectrum increasingly view his two terms as a time of little progress on the nation's thorniest fiscal challenges.

The number of jobs in the nation increased by about 2 percent during Bush's tenure, the most tepid growth over any eight-year span since data collection began seven decades ago. Gross domestic product, a broad measure of economic output, grew at the slowest pace for a period of that length since the Truman administration. And Americans' incomes grew more slowly than in any presidency since the 1960s, other than that of Bush's father.

Something that was never had can be lost....

Heh. I guess that may be true where the fringe Right is concerned.

I have friends who would be considered very Conservative by the P&N Liberal crowd, but they wouldn't stoop to making outright lies or complaining about taxes on destructive and nonessential activities (e.g. smoking) that they choose to participate in.

If the tax cuts "depleted the nations coffers" as you asset why did revenues increase?

Individual Income Tax Receipts (millions of dollars)

2006 . . . . . . $1,043,908 (GDP: $13,194b)
2005 . . . . . . . .$927,222
2004 . . . . . . . .$808,959
2003 . . . . . . . . $793,699
2002 . . . . . . . . $858,345
2001 . . . . . . . . .$994,339
2000 . . . . . . . $1,004,462 (GDP: $9,817b)

Individual income taxes as a percentage of overall receipts:
2000 - 49.59%
2005 - 43.05%
That would be a decrease of 13.19%.

Becausew the biig spending increases *with tax cuts* delplted the coffers more than the same spending increases without the tax cuts.

And before y ou parrot the right-wing ideology that the tax cuts increased the economy and taxes, studies showed each dolllar of tax cut got back about 20% in increase tax revenue - not more than a dollar.

Probably made up of the same 44% idiot population that voted for him and continuously brainwashed by Fox news and the extremist rights.

We need someone unconventional who takes political economics a bit more seriously.

Just wait until the cap and fraud disaster, inevitable massive tax increases and health care disaster really start hitting people in the pocketbook. People will all be wishing for the relative brilliance of GWB.

I doubt it, under Bush and the Republicans in power during his terms America suffered more than any time since WWII.

What was unemployment with Bush? How much did peoples incomes and net worth improve? Did they take home more money after taxes than before Bush?

The answer is low unemployment, net worth improved, stock market roaring and people paid less in taxes. That's what you call good times.

Was just reading an article today about people's net worth are going to take years to get them to where they were in the Bush years.

Presidents do not control the economy.

ORLY? Between 2000 and 2006, Americans certainly did not "suffer" economically, much less "suffer more than any time since WWII". Economically things just kind of meandered along, but there wasn't even a recession.

Bush inherited (and wisely ignored) the tail end of a very mild recession, the DOT COM bust of 1999 & 2000, then took a huge hit from 9/11, then left Obama a recession. I give him neither blame for the hit nor any particular credit for his economic policy, such as it is. I do blame him for not vetoing more of the spending, for not overturning the nonsensical HUD standards for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (which are still the law of the land) when he could have done so, for signing into law things that he said he thought were unconstitutional (if a president believes a piece of legislation is unconstitutional then he has the moral responsibility to veto it), and for not opposing Congress for overturning Glass-Steagall (which at least a handful of Democrats are now trying to reinstate.) 2000 through 2006 were economically good years for everyone I know, but overall Bush was the "meh" president in my opinion.

Things in Michigan have been in the dump since April of 2001. It took a few years but our suffering finally trickled down to the rest of you.

Considering that in 2004 just over 50% of the country voted Republican and voted Bush in for a 2nd term we're doing good at 44%.

Another 44% to go to beat them silly and/or get them the fuck out of our country.

Wouldn't that mean you, since you voted for him?

Perhaps the greatest measure of Obama's declining support is that just 50% of voters now say they prefer having him as President to George W. Bush, with 44% saying they'd rather have his predecessor

This can't be a coincidence, can it?

44% - God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so.

Was the poll conducted in Texas?
That was my first question.

And all this poll shows is how dumb and ignorant Americans really are. I didnt vote for Obama, and I dont much care for him, but he would have to do assloads of shit to fuck up as bad W. Obama has actually been working to make things better for the general public. As messed up as things are, its asking a lot to fix everything within his first year.

Maybe this poll was conducted in DC. I understand low-income blacks are pissed off he hasnt given them reperation money yet. Of course, he never said he would, but thats beside the point.
