I started using biometric unlocking on my phone after years of using pin only. It made it easier for work when I have to frequently lock/unlock. Well, sometimes it still requires my pin "For added security". I wonder what the attack vector is for someone that has my fingerprint, but not my pin, and do I really care at that point?

I was just reading that during a traffic stop the police can make you unlock your phone with your fingerprint if you use that, but they can't make you unlock it with a pin number as that violates the 5th. Check your state to be sure if this applies.

That was why I didn't use biometric unlocking. The convenience ended up outweighing the risk in my head, and I figured with random cops I can just play dumb, and say i don't have biometric unlocking. If it's the FBI or something, it's already game over, and it's not like I'm running darkweb markets or anything, so I shouldn't be attracting their attention.

Ex if your refuse they'll just knock you out then unlock it with your finger. Ideally you could set it up so that if you do use the finger print it opens up a completely different profile, that might be the safest bet.

I really don't store anything important on my phone so they would not get much, just a bunch of pictures of my cats and server stuff to sort through. Although they could do lot of damage with the 2FA app... I guess they would still need the password to get into anything right? Or is it game over if they get that database?

I don't use 2fa, and don't understand the infrastructure, but it's my understanding you'd still need the password. Otherwise, it's only 1fa with extra hassle, right?

I don't use 2fa

Microsoft and maybe some others have done stuff to "break us free" from passwords. Not using whatever that is but yeah if it's just a mobile app that would unlock your entire digital world, it's risky.

What's great about cats is when they're having a puke party, you get several puddles to track down and cleanup instead of a boring single puddle that's easy to find.

On the bright side, cleaning cat is doing her best to fix the problem. Mamas(cleaning cat) is very orderly, and I'll find bits of paper, or whatever else she can find covering puke piles. Last week there was a PATA cable on top of a puke pile. It really isn't all that helpful, but she does her best, and gets an A+++ for effort. It's also amusing :^D

I've found a way to avoid the cat following me inside the villa. But it's hectic!

If I enter the villa gate and the cat is a bit far from the villa entrance, I dash towards the door like crazy and the cat seems to understand, he doesn't want me. She stops in her tracks wherever she is, just sits down and licks her paws or some part of her body.

Oh your poor kitties. Puking over and over and over again put a tremendous strain on their little bodies. The most common cause is hairballs. But even if you don't always find one or more in the pile, there could still be one and it's clogging their intestines.

PLEASE, get some hairball treatment and see if that reduces recurrences. I always used the flavored paste for the Persian when I was taking car of my ex's cats. The Persian was fairly old (over 10 years) and would have been a mess w/o those treatment"

She absolutely loved that shit. If she saw me going for the paste, she was immediately on top of me. It's a little messy but I so loved watching her lick it off down to the last molecule. But there are also chewables. That's quick and easy.

It's almost 100% the boy. He has gastrointestinal issues, and it doesn't appear to be hairballs usually. The girl cleans up regardless. Turd outside the litterbox(the boy...)? She covers it up. Puke pile? It gets covered too. Sometimes stuff gets dragged into the litterbox to cover that up.

What prompted my post you quoted is I was sitting at the computer, and heard the boy puking. I'm thinking "Ugh... I guess I have to take care of that. I'll get it next time I get up". I then hear scratching. Scratching, scratching, scratching... I get up to see what's going on, and the girl's pulling cat hair out from under the chair and putting it on the puke pile :^D

@lxskllr - Apologies for the unsolicited advice. But I know you care about them. So the worst that happens if it doesn't help is . . . nothing. And they really do enjoy licking the paste off of the back of their paw. Win-win.

It's not all the time. Probably no more than the average cat. I was being terse and delicate with my description. The boy also gets the shits sometimes. I haven't been able to figure it out, and going to the vet sounds like a money pit when it happens irregularly, and not all that frequently. I just deal with it, and try to connect dots, but the dots don't seem to connect well. I have an inkling it could be giardia cause the cats both play with the water bowl, and stick their dirty little mitts inside, but the girl doesn't have those problems, so I dunno. Just another way life sometimes sucks. I deal with it and keep on going.

@lxskllr - ok but maybe call the local shelter or animal control or ASPCA and see what vets they use to fix cats. And when they ask why, just say you want someone who cares about the animals and won't rip you off. I'm sure they can help.

If it has something isn't easily fixed, like cancer, feline hiv (I think that exists) - whatever, then have him humanely euthanized.

I love the kitties but I had to have both of my ex's cats put to sleep because there were too many things wrong with them. And nothing is worse than having an animal suffer. I've seen how attached people get and heard the horror stories about spending tens of thousands just to keep them alive a little bit longer. Meanwhile the animal still suffers.

And with cats, they can be at death's door and you wouldn't know. Very strong little critters.

OK, that's the end of the sermon. I know you're already doing much more than your fair share by feeding them, giving them shelter and probably a host of other things. So just do whatever feels right, you've already done quite a lot.
