PocketPC's do not playback video at 5 FPS (STOP GETTING IT CONFUSED WITH PALM's slow DragonBall processor). It plays back video at 20-30FPS SMOOTHLY be it MPG, WMV, AVI, or ASF with the 206MHz StrongARm processor. It is quite enjoyable to watch a movie on the screen if you try it.
Secondly, an iPAQ 3635 (32MB RAM WITH CompactFlash sleeve can be had for UNDER $200), and it's far superior to any Sony given its price and capabilities.
A 64MB iPAQ 3670 can be had for under $300 and you can buy the $30 PocketPC 2002 upgrade from Compaq. You can also purchase the upgrade for the 3635 >>
Here we go again? I think I made my points about both w/o any disrespect and/or flaming. Please offer me the same courtesy, thank you. I like PPC's and I think they will continue to gain market share.
You watch a movie using a CF card? Movies are HUGE. I have DIVX. They are still huge. I have better things to put on my flash memory than a single movie. Like my entire digital photo album, mp3s, games, apps, maps, etc.
AGAIN, I said that I'm talking normal prices, NOT hot deals used by jumping through hoops. You sent that thread, but you can use coupons like those on Palm-based products too, so what's the point?
3670 is $473.99 at Buy.com
For $500, the 3670 is probably a better buy than the clie 760. If you get a clie 710 for $250-ish and flash it to 760 (identical hardware), I have to say that's probably a better deal >>
Where did I flame you???? I just said here we go again b/c yet ANOTHER person spreads misinformation about 5 FPS video playback which is blatantly FALSE!.
I can fit a 2 hour long video on my iPAQ's 256MB CompactFlash card. I specifically rip the DVD and resize it down to the iPAQ's screen myself. If I'm not watching a movie, the card is filled with MP3's, games, documents, etc.
Also the 3670 was available for $299 from CompUSA just a few weeks ago after mail in rebate. Anyone worth their salt SHOPS AROUND before buying something like this.
