Why is that a surprise? It's to build hype. The thing I'm worried about is the lack of advertisements.

For all you know they did this like the iPad 2. Make and ship 10 thousand units for the entire country and have people murdering each other in long lines.

The iPad 2 was different. Almost every one would know about the first iPad already by that time, and they didn't really need advertisements for the second one.

PlayBook is in a different scenario. It's a brand new device, so... who would know about it aside from tech enthusiasts? This was why the XOOM didn't sell really well, and even though it did have "some" ads that were too confusing to figure out.

Yeah I dont really watch TV much but one day when I was sitting at the titty bar (or was it the dentist office?) they had the TV and the ad I saw made no fucking sense whatsoever. I didnt even know what the hell it was.

as long as my favorite sex site works, it's my new "sexpad!"

According to whats his face up there, it supports Flash so chances are good you can watch your prons.
BUT, I dont know what kind of file formats it handles. And if my experience with Honeycomb is any indication, its better to have a Windows on a laptop with VLC.

Analysts are saying Apple is likely to sell 30 to 45 million iPad 2's this year. I suspect your estimate is off by a factor of 100. We'll actually know in a couple of days when Apple announces earnings, they give lots of sales data with their quarterly results.

One of the reviewers said it looks like a $99 LCD photo frame, I didn't see it till I watched this video, it's too square and bland, it really does look like a $99 photo frame...

Seems browser speed is lacking too...

Conclusion
The PlayBook noticeably trails both the iPad 2 and Xoom in Web speed performance, taking (in some cases) twice as long as Apple's and Motorola's machines. The PlayBook natively runs Flash, and initially we pegged that as the culprit for its slower performance; however, after running the same tests on the Xoom with Flash enabled, we quickly abandoned that theory. Future firmware updates notwithstanding, the PlayBook is simply put, not as fast in Web speed as the iPad 2 or Xoom.
The PlayBook obviously has the highest brightness of either the tablets mentioned here. That high brightness unfortunately translates into a high black level, thus its contrast ratio isn't quite as high as the Xoom's.

got to follow the herd on this one. 15 million ipads sold last year. predictions are up to 50 million will be sold this year. iOS will have the developer support. the other tablets will just be glorified internet/email devices with flash support for easy pr0n surfing. the iPad will have usability.

Unless you wanna look at 90% of the websites out there.
I'm not saying I like Flash, cuz I dont. I hate it. And I mostly hate that its so common. At least Real Media can be safely ignored.
But until the majority of the world moves on to something better (HTML 5) we need flash support on our computers and any portable device designed to access the WWW.

i use android and iOS and don't miss flash on my ipad 2. so much apps there to organize information that you don't need to use the web browser most of the time. apps like Pulse and Zite are awesome.

just having flash opens up a crap world of apps out there... but it's browser based, instead of native apps. Good thing Playbook's flash performance is top notch!

People would be surprised at how many video sites have switched to iPad compatible formats and no longer need Flash to run.

Reviews look good to me. It sounds little rough but has the most potential. I'll wait for the updates but if they can fix the issues, RIM will have my money.
