Plane crashes into another plane near Reagan International

I have been reading that this Airport has been asked for and needed to be shutdown and moved for many years. What has been stopping the move has been Congress as it is more convenient for them to fly in and out of Washington DC.

Also way too much light clutter which makes it hard to determine what you are looking at.

I saw an aviation crash expert that stated that the collision avoidance is turned off below 1,000 Feet.

Congress just recently expanded the number of flights DCA was authorized to handle despite longstanding capacity concerns. Making them all use IAD instead would be a just punishment.

To be fair, everyone here understands that FAA and ATC funding and staffing has been an ongoing concern throughout several administrations, never mind outdated equipment (still waiting on NextGen!), burn out/stress and reliance on strikes to force minuscule changes in policy.

Until I see evidence otherwise, I don’t think Trump’s EOs caused this accident. I don’t think Biden or DEI are responsible either. I’m gonna go with my hunch of “pilot error” (bulk of the blame on the helicopter pilot) until I see a final NTSB report (though can they be trusted to tell the truth without pressure from Trump/Pentagon?)

BUT, I will say Trump’s EOs might make air travel less safe down the road. Rather than looking for someone to blame, I’d rather He and His Congress focus on covering their asses for future disasters and giving FAA/airports/airlines/military whatever they need to prevent another occurrence. Fully funding NextGen and staffing that small tower near SFO sounds like a good start.

Why they haven't just gone universal GPS is a mystery to me. The company I worked for sold the first GPS managed flight system to the Swiss back around 1990. They took it to Boeing with a marketer vice an engineer and we were basically shown the door. Still ended up selling our GPS modules to Boeing (I can't remember which block) for their cruise missiles.

So mayor Pete put out a decent statement and he did use the word disgusting. And a couple other nice things. That's a start.

Now what about combining disgusting and pathological liar and racist in the same statement. I know one of these fuckers has it in them somewhere

I saw he said it's time for Trump to show some leadership.

I don't know why he would think that will happen now when it has never happened in his lifetime.

FAA is holding on to an unreleased memo that says staffing at DCA tower was “not normal” during the incident, according to NYT:

I wonder why it leaked???
Probably want to be sure that the cause was due to understaffing from Trump policies before stating they were in fact understaffed due to Trump's policies.

Weaker than I thought. I saw the word despicable, mixed it up with disgusting, and then got so excited I didn't read the rest properly.

Ok, so still waiting for a real statement from a somewhat prominent Dem. Christ almighty where are these diimwits?>

Politicizing a fucking tragedy! 4 years of this POS and we are at day 10! These people aren’t named or claimed by relatives, he doesn’t even wait for investigation results, and the fucking idiot playing President is blaming Biden and "DEI". Something bad happened and is in the news. To Trump, this is an opportunity to make himself look good and blame people he doesn’t like. Lather, rinse, repeat.

After he read the pre-written stuff, then comes the verbal diarrhea. “I hired smarter people, but Biden hired DEI… Hegseth and Vance may as well as fellated him there in front of the press and the world. What an embarrassment to the world this stain is. Demeaning any of the press that questions his assumptions or he really gets pissed when they call him out on his bullshit. Who in the press is going to take the lead here? He no longer has any guardrails and can say and do anything he fucking wants now. None of his Republican yes-men will ever question what he says, and he’ll just keep browbeating the press. This is the next four (or more) years.

If you can stomach it. it is long and ignorant. plenty of fake words of sympathy and faux religious sentiments. I’m not sure which is more nauseating.

Trump never passes on a shot to blame black people. Right after crash Republicans started screaming DEI

It really delegitimizes anyone who isn’t a straight able-bodied white man. It opens up the box to people wondering if they can really trust the person running things if they’re not a straight white man, or that black woman sitting in the next cubicle at work, or the autistic person sitting next to them in the university classroom.

We are talking about the man who took out a full page ad 25 years ago calling for the execution of 5 young black men for a crime they didn’t commit.

If you blame everything on DEI long enough, it slowly does the work of turning more white people into white supremacists, more people looking down on disabled people, “othering” LGBTQ people, etc. It’s a win-win-win for despicable white power men like Trump. People don’t even realize they’ve become racist, sexist, homophobic. They’re just blaming “DEI” for all their problems.

But Trump has greatly expanded his "DEI" polices beyond those of President Biden. His hiring net spreads wide to enfold the untrained, unqualified, incompetent, drunks, mentally ill narcissists, weirdos and as well as those with severe attitude problems. We should shower him with prayer and moments of silence.

What a turd. Won't visit the site and makes a crack about it being in the water and having to swim.
Trump could not resist also going after the deceased soldiers:

Trump : “The people in the helicopter should have seen where they were going,” “I can’t imagine people with 20/20 vision not seeing what’s happening up there.”

Can you imagine the families of the servicemembers who may have been watching that idiot!

Trump turned an official report on the airplane crash into a meandering attack on Obama, the control tower, hiring standards and Democratic regulations, while preemptively clearing the crews and claiming that under his rules accidents like this will NEVER happen again. 🙄

A real POTUS, if pushed to give a response, would say that they feel terrible for the victims’ families and that it is a tragedy, and will give all support they can to the investigation and any changes that experts say must be made to prevent a similar tragedy from happening in the future.

Trump - “I only heard about this 5 seconds ago but I know "Woke did it.”!

I'm making a point of never listening to a Fn thing he has to say. I get tired of waiting for something true to be said.

Trump is such a manly man, tough guy, he picks on defenseless dead people.

well there we go...
even issued a EO on this

just amazing

Has this been the worst response to an air disaster by any President, in history?

Trump - "What's the site, the water? You want me to go swimming?"

He can barely contain his resentment at having to actually do his job. Grampa Dementia seems cranky. Trump just wants to reassure Americans that he doesn't give a shit. He's gotten politically what he needs out of the crash. Time to move on. He is sick of this story already. He wants to get back to all the ring kissing.
