In my opinion something like that is better as a 'mint' stockish car. I'd rebuild the original engine, to original specs, with original parts other than removing the smog crap they added on.

The jdm conversions are suited more towards people that love that specific platform and want to build it up no matter the cost. Just personal opinion, but I'd go with a supra or something else if I was going to spend that much money and go to those lengths

Great looking car!

I am going to keep the original engine and rebuild slowly. The main reason I got the front clip is that it had nearly all the parts that I need and enough that I can sell to recoup a majority back. One of the guys that works for me has a Sylvia and already claimed the brakes and one of the turbos. Now that I have taken the engine out once and deleted all the extra crap pulling the JDM engine next year and putting in a rebuilt and massaged performer will be easy peasy. Then Ill look for a NA roller and convert it with the jdm engine.

The great thing about this car is it satisfies my desires to tinker and fills a gap that has normally cost me much more in my stable of cars!

I would have loved to find a project supra but those and FD Rx7s got vin dieseled right out out of my budget.

Why is the front of the car cut off? Is it because of the spider? ;)

hehe

they actually tried to make it into a spyder but made too many cuts like clarckson did in season 4 on the convertible people carrier.

in all seriousness, front clips like this get exported to the usa for parts. If they slice off the back they can import the clip like a part vs an entire car which is liable for tariffs, inspections, and overall pain in the assness.

WE JUST RAN IT

used a bladder and some gas to hear it run. It sounded great with the half cut exhaust.

I seriously cant figure out how to get this thing off the ground without breaking things.

you caught it!

I did something similar earlier in post and nobody caught that either.

My buddy helping me today has a 2004 cobra

Yeah I did a double take on the Benz and wondered why it was there, I just didn't say anything since it was just a random tire shot :)

still sitting there taunting me. Getting a guy with a forklift to come over on monday night to help me lift it.

Been staring at components and had a drunken idea. Would it be nuts to cut out the back firewall of the engine bay and welding into the american car so I can run rhd and swap sides of battery etc?

I know I can go rhd without doing said surgery but the idea of having an exact frankenstein transfer of the donor nose and guts sounds cool.

Just asked a buddy and he called me an idiot.

A RHD car in America isn't all it's cracked up to be. If you can do all the work yourself it's just time...but most spend around $10k or more just to do it right.

Its spelt this is not a classroom.

Sorry the name silvia is spelt with a Y in my native language. I apologize
if my English-my fifth language- isnt up to your standards...

Err, it has nothing to do with language, its a name.

Like Nissan. The spelling doesnt change across languages.

This was the surprise I got on the 95GT in the pictures.

bah hard to see in picture but the hole that's not supposed to be there rather irked me. Now I need a new block vs rebuilding..

forgot to mention getting that thing off the ground was intense!

Had to use 4 floor jacks that I borrowed from a friend. Once lifted we dropped the car on back rollers so we could roll it over to lift. Once there we lifted again till we got lift legs in place. Whew. It slipped a bit once we lowered it as shown above but stayed put.

Its ALIVE!

Engine is in. Had to wait on oil pan and random parts to complete. Like an indiot I go to bolt up the exhaust and realize the downpipe on the JDM is different than the stock Americas model.
Luckily the NA exhausts from the downpipe to catback match up. So now I have to get a NA exhaust. I thought about modifying the borla's I already bought but got them resold for more than I payed so I now hunt for new exhaust. Running it with the JDM cut downpipe. Actually sounds awesome lol

Will get some pictures uploaded this evening.

Still have a ton to do but glad the engine is in and running well. No cels or lights and oil pressure good.
