Lol no. Thats the Japanese front clip I bought to swap the engine and body panels out of. I needed an engine and the all the front bodywork because the previous owner was both and an diot and had bad taste since he used a BOLT on Bra....


That was a picture of me getting the clip off the ground to remove the 40k mile engine from japan.
 
I have always loved those twin turbo's. Although the tail lights really show their age nowadays.

The prices are right now and will only get worse since they are becoming rare. If I had to do it again I would have considered buying a NA roller slick top and grabbing a jdm engine.

Just took it around the block and was grinning from ear to ear. Cant believe HICAS and everything else works right off the bat. I know I am probably going to jinx myself.


Cant believe how good the open exhaust sounds with just the dump pipes and the cut precat. Still cant decide what I am going to do with the exhaust.

Trying to find someone to respray it for me as well.

you could always tint/smoke the red slightly. I also sent you a PM.

Well for a an ex editor I fail at shooting video. The exhaust isnt here yet so I am currently running with the dump pipe and the jdm down pipe that was cut before the cat so its basically an open exhaust till Monday or Tuesday. I am having an idle issue that I thinkI figured out so the high idle present in the video will be taken care of. This clip was basically first extended run. The turbos had some oil on them from me flipping the engine to replace the oil pan. Once I upload some pictures you can see that phase.

VERY NICE!!! one of the cars on the list i want to build. and this is exactly what ATG needed build threads. between mine ,yours, JCH13 and Fuzzys comming back to life makes this place even better.

There is only one way to learn and that is to do it. Fuzzydunlop had no idea when he started his MK1 MR2 build last year but some youtube videos, car model specific forums and some common sense and he was up and running. you want to build one find a cheap sports car and go to town. Miata, MR2, Hell even camaros and other cars of the like and go to town and dont give up the road is long but the reward is awesome!

Its never been easier to wrench. Tools are cheaper, scan tools are almost free, the internet has every guide available for every platform. Start small and work from there!

No idea about size. will look at em later. I wish I could find pictures of my old mr2s. I loved each of them. I still get pissed and take it personally when people say MK1s are ugly.

Forgot to show you guys.


When I had torn down the fenders I found two spots where the previous owner stopped using a splash guard and opened a area of the fender well to spray.

When I saw the R word I about has an aneurism. I have a big distaste for rust so I cut that part out.

So I basically welded plate into the open area and filled it with that expanding putty in can crap to get it sealed. I then polished the line weld till it was smooth then sprayed it with under body spray. I plan on doing entire bottom of car and all wheel wells after the body respray.

BTW, what kind of "expanding puddy" did you use. Ive been told by car guys not to use anything that expands because it becomes porous and can eventually hold humidity causing... you guessed it, more rust.

Also what did you use for chassis paint?

Both were off the shelf at O'Reilly Auto. The foam got as hard as a rock and shouldn't be a problem for years. I plan on using Zeibart for a prof spray since you can get a car done for 400 bucks with 50 dollar resprays for life.
