After reading many of the reviews, its a mixed bag really. Unless you catch a deal like the Tigerdirect one, which appears to be sold out now, on a 1055, they aren't worth buying to build new. The boards are reasonably priced, but to get a full featured board, a comparable Intel X58 or P55 aren't much more at all. The price of the 1090 totally negates even purchasing that one for a new build. You can get an Intel 930/920/860 for the same price. And with a 860 you pay the same for 4gb ram as you do for AMD. Decent processors no doubt, but only certain situations dictate purchasing one. Buying an FX890 does bring features beyond the cheaper chipsets, so you kinda get what you pay for.
