Why was she subjected to this type of search in the first place? What were they looking for?
She probably refused to go through the new scanner doo hickey.

"You're not here just for a flight are you, Mr. Platypus?"I think I am on some kind of list because I always get 'randomly selected' for additional screening and I refuse to go through those scanners. I used to think it was just coincidence but I've flown probably 15-20 times in the last few years and I'm always pulled out of line.
That said, I have to get the TSA groping quite frequently and they always touch my junk. Like every single time. Not in a rapey/sexually inappropriate sort of way but it happens.
Protip: don't joke about it, they have no sense of humor at all.
In fairness, if you're getting a full-body patdown, they need to grab your junk to ensure that you aren't hiding anything. Our squeamishness about our privates means that it's the most obvious place to hide any contraband since it's the least likely to be investigated. I'm not saying that I agree with the TSA, as I think the entire organization is a colossal waste of resources, but if they're going to be violating our privacy in the name of security, they better violate it properly.
That's just it, though. They shouldn't be violating our privacy for the illusion of security.
No, no they shouldn't. But since we seem content to give up our privacy to the degree of nude-body scanners and patdowns, if you say "you can investigate everything but the junk region," you're posting a pretty simple outline of where to hide contraband for people. It's an all or nothing proposition.
Sorry, but anyone that watches this and doesn't think that the procedures involved are ridiculous is just ready and willing to surrender their privacy to the government.
I'm trained on the scanners and I can tell you that they see everything. Sure, they have software that masks genitals, etc., but the fact is, the machines see EVERYTHING.
Flying is no safer today than it was before 9/11, bottom line.
Bullshit.
White girl traveling with Mom are not going to be smuggling bombs onto an airplane.
Arab woman in full burkah or whatever it's called...much more likely...at least in America.
In other countries, maybe the whities would be apt to blow shit up. When was the last time a whitey threatened a domestic flight?
If we were to do some smart profiling and focus our attentions where they should be focused, we wouldn't need this bullshit illusion of security.
When was the last time explosives were caught at the personal screening security checkpoint? Never, that's when.
The TSA is the first step toward tyranny.
You're implying that people have a choice in the matter. I am not ready or willing, but I do because I have to in order to fly. You can make any argument about driving or other forms of transportation but the fact remains that realistically we're forced into this situation.
I doubt anyone is ready or willing, we simply don't have a realistic choice in the matter.
And I doubt you'll find anyone alive besides talking heads that think we're at all safer as the result of the TSA. The entire thing is a continued embarrassment to this country.
Tell me one person, just one, that's ever said, "You know, that TSA and their procedures are perfect and I love it!"
How many planes have been hijacked and bombs exploded since the TSA has been formed?
If the TSA needs to not only touch your vagina but spread your lips and stick a finger in, go right ahead. Their track record speaks for itself.
I wouldn't do that job. You don't know what diseases you can catch groping strangers.
