Maybe this will eventually be fixed with good AI running better scanners invisibly at all entrances. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible someday, have it scanning for all hazardous chemicals, analyzing down to individual firearms components so that a team of baddies couldn't reassemble a weapon onboard, etc. Then you'd be invisible and seamless until there actually was a problem.
Still a gross violation of civil liberties, but weirdly I'd feel less creepy about an AI managing it, and only alerting human security when something is flagged for review.
