I have seen it in numerous places that California gets back a lot less and that New York state is one of the biggest losers. That is not consistent with your map.

I am not one to throw the race card, but you absolutely cannot convince me that this instinct to secede is not largely a function of President Obama's race. He is, if anything, a hawkish, centrist Democrat, and has given these states nothing to fear, other than being a half-black guy named Barack Hussein Obama.

All this talk about secession is just that...talk. Even we Southerners don't take it seriously anymore. In my experience, it is those not from the South that want us to secede the most. We are patriotic about our nation AND proud of our regional heritage. We are stronger and more prosperous together than apart.

That being said, I voted confederate. Like many Southerners the last time around, we will defend our homes without regard to the political ideologies behind the war. That being said, I do not want for that situation to ever arise as disunion is a stupid idea.
