Oh gee... look at that. The top three worst offenders are the states of West Virginia, Mississippi, and South Carolina; three very red states with a lot of idiotic social conservatives.

I'll agree, they're hypocrites. But they aren't Texas.

Texas--lose one state--end the Republicans presidential ambitions! It might be a good trade. Besides, if Texas secedes, then we could ship all of the Tea-Tards and free marketers over there.

Secede!?! Maybe we should just proactively boot Texas out.

I seriously have a problem with that map.
    Please link to actual source?
I have seen it in numerous places that California gets back a lot less and that New York state is one of the biggest losers. That is not consistent with your map.

EDIT: The map is bullshit. Here you will find the real info:

I am not one to throw the race card, but you absolutely cannot convince me that this instinct to secede is not largely a function of President Obama's race. He is, if anything, a hawkish, centrist Democrat, and has given these states nothing to fear, other than being a half-black guy named Barack Hussein Obama.

All this talk about secession is just that...talk. Even we Southerners don't take it seriously anymore. In my experience, it is those not from the South that want us to secede the most. We are patriotic about our nation AND proud of our regional heritage. We are stronger and more prosperous together than apart.

That being said, I voted confederate. Like many Southerners the last time around, we will defend our homes without regard to the political ideologies behind the war. That being said, I do not want for that situation to ever arise as disunion is a stupid idea.

Hey, Bush was from Texas. I say we put the cost of the wars on his state's shoulders.

Good point! Great idea! We should KICK Texas out of the union and give them that portion of the national debt that is attributable to George W. Bush.

I say let them go. Its better for the US. They get a huge portion of the Mexican border. We get most of the oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

They get intelligent design and a 6000 year old earth. We get education for the 21st century.

The only condition is they don't get any nukes.

"Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it. But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government. Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper. We cannot allow Washington’s tax and spend, one-size-fits-all mindset to jeopardize our children’s future, undermine our personal liberties and drive our nation down a dangerous path to greater dependence of government."

If we let them secede they would just try to join one of our enemies to backstab the Union again. (Iran-Tex?)

Just like they did when they tried to join the UK during the TX Republic and then later joining the traitorous CSA in the Civil War.

    Keep your Texans close....

Texas had a 2-year budget shortfall that ran somewhere between $15B and $27B. How on earth is that a balanced budget?

    lol petition writers.
