I tried throwback a while ago. Tastes different not particularly better than normal stuff, but I assume that'll vary by person. I usually drink diet, but I tried the throwback and normal back to back as an exception.

Not only will taste vary to the person, but it will very by region. I live 100 miles from my parents. I can't stand the taste of pepsi when I'm out there, it tastes 'fishy'.

the only throwback I like significantly more than regular is Dr Pepper

beyond that, I dont get that sick feeling I get with regluar pop(which I rarely drink) when I drink a throwback

it's not ridiculous shit. fructose increases the risk of insulin resistance. therefore, hfcs increases insulin resistance more than does regular sugar.

Haven't you been bitchslapped enough in regards to this topic?

Mmmmm! I'm drinking directly out of a 2Liter bottle right now! I can certainly taste a difference, most specifically in the aftertaste. I dont drink soda very often, but I saw this on the shelf and it's delicious! Try it before it's gone again!

I agree. The biggest difference in taste is the aftertaste. My roommate had picked some up to "try out" but he normally drinks Pepsi One, so it tasted really unusual to him so I tried it out and thought it was "not bad". Generally speaking, I don't like the way Pepsi tastes and I definitely thought it was related to the sweetness and flavor, but once I had the throwback I realized that pepsi w/ hfcs has what I'd consider a weird aftertaste, while the throwback version did not.

Drinking a throwback right now and it doesn't taste as "heavy" too me. It doesn't linger and coat like "normal pepsi." I much prefer throwback. Of course, I grew up on "sugar pepsi." When did HFCS become the norm? They put it in EVERYTHING now.

I can taste a big difference between sodas made with HFCS and "real sugar". The real sugar drinks taste much better except Mtn Dews. For some reason, HFCS makes it taste better.

Agreed. It tastes different, but I think there's no basis to say it's healthier.

I wonder if this would have anything to do with the rising cost of corn (and therefore high fructose corn syrup) due to its increasing usage in producing more ethanol. Is sugar now simply cheaper than HFCS? Does throwback cost more or less than the regular version? Is this just a way for Pepsi to increase their margins?

Sugar is just better in beverages. That's the reason why everyone uses sugar in their coffee or tea instead of corn syrup.

Sugar is cheaper, it's just artificially inflated in the US

anyone who thinks coke here tastes the same as mexican coke is either lying to themselves because they're sick of the "librul health food conspiracy" (since when was soda healthy?) , or just probably never had it before.

im assuming pepsi throwback is the same. too bad i can't find it anywhere!

anyone who says HFCS isnt shit for you to drink, needs to watch that

You need to understand that HFCS and sugar used in foods is almost the same thing as far as your body is concerned. In fact, since the 55/45 HFCS mix is used in things like pop and other stuff that is super sweet, the HFCS that's used in most foods is healthier for you than the 50/50 mix that sugar offers. They use a 42/58 mix in most food, which is better for you than sucrose (sugar).

So whatever you say about HFCS is basically true of regular sugar as well. You are partially correct in that it would be slightly worse in soft drinks, although at even elevated consumption levels there has been no evidence that the 55 mix of HFCS is worse for you than sucrose (you would have to really overconsume, and the calories and increased sugars intake from that alone are probably enough to cause the issues that people would try to put on HFCS). What you mean to say is that drinking pop is shit for you to drink.

Um yes it is. What you're trying to claim is ridiculous, but you already had a freight train run on you about that topic, so if you want to keep pushing it, go back and post in one of the many threads specifically about it.

I love pepsi throwback, but I hate dew throwback.

However, for some reason pepsi throwback (unlike regular pepsi) makes my teeth hurt.

I agree with this. We bought a couple dew 12 packs because I figured if Pepsi was better with real sugar, then surely Mt. Dew would be better with real sugar. I don't like the Mt. Dew throwback at. all.

This is a case where preconceived notions affect peoples judgments.

During a double blind taste test where people were asked to rank different cola brands (Coke/Pepsi/Safeway Select) and than taste a samples labeled as different cola brands people like the sample that was marked with what they thought they would like going into the tasting.

I've had throwback of Dew and Pepsi, I thought they were both good but nothing spectacular. Better, but not amazing.

That said, I can't find any damn Dr. Pepper throwback for the life of me :(
