What is the designation for high school? H.S. or GED?

I am going to add all of my certifications.

At our lab we used H.S. I would suppose that in theory GED is indeed different from a high school diploma.

WTF I thought this thread died the day it was posted.

Anyways, I just found it peculiar since I'm used to seeing people with doctorate degrees put PhD as a suffix, just rarely a MS. Hers was from her work account - think she had a MS in organic chemistry.

ahh CFA exams are more challenging than MCAT and PCATs? whodathunkit.

I am not a mortgage 'guy', I work for a mortgage company though.

*EACH* CFA exam is 6 hours, unlike the 4 for the PCAT and 5.5 for the MCAT. That's 18 hours of exams, over a minimum of 2.5 years, to complete the exams. Then you still have to have 4 years of work experience and get two other charterholders to sponsor you.

Yes, prep matters. I spent tons of time studying, 4 hours after each work day, 8 hours on each weekend day, for 6 months for *EACH* exam. That's on top of working in a capital markets job requiring 60-80 hours of work during those periods. Intelligence to absorb, understand, and apply the knowledge also matters. This is also why there are essays in Level3, to test ultimate application.

When they quadruple the PCAT exams, let me know. Otherwise, go stuff it.

You are talking about your CFA licensing exam and comparing it to an entrance examination (e.g. PCAT). There are pharmacy licensing exams (as well as the medical one) and pharmacists are typically required to perform continuing education to renew their license. So in their situation they have to essentially study throughout the course of their entire career to meet licensing regulations.

I'm working on my MBA now but I've spent nearly ten years in the science industry so I am a little cynical when I hear business people trying to talk up how difficult their exams are. Business stuff is, on average, simple compared to any science material.

you have to take 4 national board exams in order to become eligible for state license as a chiropractor, plus a physiotherapy national board exam.

part 1 - costs $510. biochemistry, general anatomy, physiology, spinal anatomy, pathology, microbiology... if you fail more than two sections, you have to retake the whole test. if you fail one or two sections, you can retake just those sections next time the test is offered (4 months). each section is 110 questions. you must ultimately pass all sections.

part 2 - costs $510. general diagnosis, diagnostic imaging, chiropractic principles/philosophy, clinical case management, neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis, associated clinical sciences... must pass most or all of part 1 in order to take part 2. if you fail more than two sections, you have to retake the whole test. if you fail one or two sections, you can retake just those sections next time the test is offered (4 months). each section is 110 questions. you must ultimately pass all sections.

part 3 - costs $510. case history, physical examination, neuromusculoskeletal examination, roentgenologic examination, clinical laboratory and special studies, diagnosis or clinical impression, chiropractic techniques, supportive techniques, case management. you cannot take this exam until all of parts 1 and 2 have been passed. if you fail, you have a chance to retake it in 4 months.

physiotherapy - costs $235. passive therapies (thermotherapy, electrotherapy, mechanotherapy, phototherapy) and active adjunctive therapies (functional assessment, physical rehabilitation). must pass all of part 1 and%

I was being facetious but now I need to figure out the designation for elementary school. Do you guys think that ele. or elem. would be more appropriate?

I assumed you didnt actually want to list it, but thought I would clarify that GED and HS are different because you would be surprised how many people think they are one and the same :D

Just to clarify, chucklehead up there was the one who decided to start prancing around with his PCAT scores in comparison to the CFA exams.

I do know the difference.

I bet chucklehead includes his PCAT score on his signature line also, since it's such a large achievement compared to getting your CFA charter.
