I think you should be required to put where you got your Masters degree as well.

So if you have a Doctorate, people call you Doctor.

I just finished my Masters. Can I have people call me Master?

Maybe they just like that song from The Knacks - My Sharona

Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one.
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?
Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run.
Gun it comin' off the line Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

Come a little closer huh, ah will ya huh.
Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona.
Keeping it a mystery gets to me
Running down the length of my thighs, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind.
Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

When you gonna give it to me, give it to me.
It is just a matter of time Sharona
Is it just destiny, destiny?
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona?
Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

I forgo the titles/suffixes around town, but I can understand their usage in formal correspondence. When it comes to email signatures, what account is it? Is it the person's professional/educational account where he might send mostly professional email? If so, I don't see why he wouldn't use his appropriate signature. If it's a personal account where he's doing mostly personal communication, then I would agree it's pretty lame.

I'm somewhat amused that this topic comes up every few months and while ATOT is generally as elitist as it gets, we seem to hate on anyone who uses titles or suffixes. I assumed that since we're all multimillionare genius playboys we'd have no problems flaunting our titles.

you know you've been playing too much Warcraft, when you see this thread, and think "why would someone put Mortal Strike in their email sig?"

It's a small penis thing. I worked with this dude who insisted I called him doctor since he had a PhD in pharmacy. I would always call James and it drove him crazy!

I cannot stand people who put MBA after their name. It is the biggest douchebaggery I've seen with regards to degrees. I laugh at anybody who does that, as well as MS.

I put CFA after my name, but I have the charter and it's standard for those who do. However, I also have my MBA but I do not put that after.

It's normal. When i worked at lockheed everyone put name followed by their credentials as sig line.

Now I do my own thing - not even related to degree hell no I don't put it. Seems a bit pretentious.

I think it says that they're proud of their achievement. It's a title they worked to earn and shouldn't be belittled for using a rightfully-earned title.

Unless you are required to do so by your work/industry, putting academic titles on your email signature is douchebaggery. Save that shit for your business card, and that is only if you have PhD/MD/JD/PE.

People nowadays putting bullshit like MCSE, A+ and CCNA under their signatures, like I gave a rat's ass that you are so proud that you took 3 month course and passed the exam. If you want to show you are competent, then demonstrate it, an email signature is not going to do it.

I agree and I have one of the aforementioned degrees. Once in a while my father-in-law jokingly asks everyone to call him doctor (PhD in engineering/college professor) and even he thinks it's pompous.
