People being killed in their sleep by intruders

The reason is I was talking to someone who thinks it is safe to leave your windows open at night. They don't believe these killings are happening.

So you are one of those people who try to tell people how things should be because you see it a certain way?

Kind of reminds me how my Mom kept locking the door that goes from my house to my garage when she was up here a few visits ago.

I asked her why in the hell she kept doing that and it was really annoying and she said "when I was a kid we have a neighbor that was murdered in his sleep by someone that came in through an unlocked garage door!!!!"

I was like "even if that did happen, it was on the other side of the country decades ago and was some random act and I KEEP MY GARAGE DOOR CLOSED!!"

Seriously would do some people good to stop worry about every little thing that could go wrong in life.

I was broken into via an unlocked garage door in the middle of the night. Now it is locked 24x7 and I put a deadbolt on it.

My wife's aunt and uncle were both beaten to death in the middle of the night with a frying pan by a crackhead about 15 years ago. It was a really poor shady neighborhood they lived in.

So yeah, it happens (although IIRC the killers broke in the back door, not the bedroom window), I don't know if it averages once a night though.

It happens way more than the mainstream media lets on. The news is full of depressing stories, but ever notice how they're always occurring somewhere that's not local to the viewership????

OP, do some research on the mass murders that occurred in Springwood, Ohio and Camp Crystal Lake, NJ.

i have items like giant mag lights, canes, bats and whatnot stashed around where i sleep. and lots of knifes.

no one's getting up my creaky shit stairs without me hearing them. at which point i will beat/stab them to death.

guns don't kill people, i kill people.

I leave my windows open all the time. If someone wanted to get in, a piece of glass isn't going to stop them.

Also, I leave my door unlocked while I'm home including while I sleep. Also, I leave it unlocked if I'm only gone for a couple hours. I also leave my motorcycle in an unattended lot, uncovered.

Any more?

Funny story:

My grandparents lived most of their lives leaving the doors unlocked, with never any issues. Then one day about 20 years ago, some random drunk stumbled into their house after midnight, thinking he was entering HIS house, and he hopped into bed with them innocently trying to get some sleep. They were understandably worried about this luncatic trying to crawl in their bed, while he was just confused why these strange people were already there and trying to keep him awake. No violence insued thankfully, and they got the police to take him away. It was a safe neighborhood in a small town with relatively low crime, but ever since that event, they had 2 deadbolts on every door.

Some tires got slashed in my neighborhood and the brand new sign for the police station got tagged. That's about the extent of active crime in this town.

I haven't locked my garage in the 4 years I've owned the place.

Said intruder would need to first figure out a way into our second story bedroom window. Then once he got in he'd have to deal with a german shepherd, a lab mix, and a rather loud maltese that although small makes sure the german shepherd and lab mix don't miss anything happening in the house.

You're more likely to die from a furniture mishap than a burglary... so you should sell all your furniture. Or better yet, encourage someone to steal it. Put a big sign outside your house that says "free everything" and leave your door open. Do this for your neighbors as well; they'll thank you when they realize they are now far less likely to die in an embarrassing furniture mishap.

Stairs are also ruthless killers. If you have any stairs in your house, do not panic. Turn around, calmly exit the building, and burn the structure to cinders to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you (including any burglars who may be coming to kill you in the night only to trip on your deadly stairs and die themselves). Safety should always be a top priority.

Meh, who the heck is scared of being randomly murdered in the night? If you are, then I suggest you move.

wtf? How many different places do you normally sleep, and why keep so many different "weapons" around you?

The idiot OP is a liar, and a shitty one at that. He's trying to prove that there's no need for citizens to own guns. Little fucker is constantly crying about it.

Everytime I see one of his threads I think to myself, "How is he trolling with this one?"
