The House Speaker says enforcing the law of the land is Un-American? That catching the illegal immigrants and returning them to their own country is a bad thing and that by being here those same illegal immigrants aver "very, very Patriotic"??

Right now Obama and the Dems want the status quo which is let them flow over the border but deny them citizenship thus keeping them in a lower class of citizen forced to live in a sub culture. Create an immigration policy that can put these people onto a track for citizenship and you capture the 90% of the latino vote while also saving this country from being rotted out from a sub culture.

Actually they can win this one. Like Rahmbo said don't let a good crisis go to waste. The GOP could easily get the American people on their side right now. Just mention how illegals are taking jobs and sucking the system dry.

We have an unrealistic immigration policy which is leading the situation we currently have. I'm not saying that doesn't make sense, but I see two problems with it.
1) Any path to citizenship for illegals is going to royally piss-off a large part of the GOP base, many of whom themselves would happily give illegals rides back to the border.
2) 90% of the latino vote? That's being very optimistic. Pander all they want, but the GOP will not lock up that much of the minority vote (ANY minority, except maybe Asians) in a significant election anytime soon. I just don't see it happening. The Dems play Santa Claus best.
