The only crafting I do is using essences that I find while I'm leveling on good white gear I happen to see. This league I crafted once just to make that quest go away and haven't gone back to the menagerie since.

It seems GGG is thinking about more changes to nets. I have a simple QoL solution myself but I didn't see them mention it. Just make the net cast time instant, that way you can't get stunned by the million summoned mobs and have your animation interrupted mid casting. And second, they could make the legendary beasts be auto target-able or something through all the summons.

Also I didn't know about hitting the Space key lol.. until yesterday.

Agreed on all this.
I too found out about the space key just this weekend :) Works on prophecy notices too. I just do not get why they leave that there - it seems like a VERY easy QoL fix that everyone bitches about.

FWIW, this league really seems to have taken a beating on Reddit. Though everyone on Reddit bitches about everything.

They will probably add a net that can capture dead beasts. The forums are voting on it right now. I think that will work well if it's the correct rarity. I HATE when I mess up a red beast, and it's annoying when I screw up a yellow... It's also somewhat difficult to capture on my laptop.

We will see though. The unique recipes are really pretty fun.

I tried 2 unique recipes but so far its annoying since the rewards haven't been something I could, or would, use and I dumped them in the guild bank. I still think this league is pretty cool because you can technically farm unique items while exp'ing. But those red mobs are a giant pain in the ass, you end up surrounded by them unless you're net happens to catch on the first try, which it never does.

Other than red mobs, this is still my favorite league (although Perandus came real close)

I can't give a real answer on the league yet. I like the balance changes more than anything. I haven't done a much capturing overall because of the same reasons why everyone else complains. It's funny reading the reason why Chris changed the mechanic before launch, I.E. worried about stun exploit on beasts. Lets see, make the primary mechanic of your league annoying for everyone to use in case of a small potential exploit OR make it easy to use and address the exploit issue separately. Go with the first one!

By Friday I'm sure everything will be cleared up and we'll get the trade enabled for the beasts by the end of this week as well. I haven't really got anything decent drop wise. I did make sure to put in a lot of time Friday and Saturday that way I could buy the expensive items for my build cheap. I got my Lycosidae for 50c Saturday and my Voice of the Storm for 20c yesterday. Lycosidae is going to be 150c by tonight and Voice will be 80 by Friday. Now I'm just waiting for Voidwalker to get cheap.

So I'm really enjoying this league. I hit 87 last night on my Flameblast totem character and sold the Shavs I found so I'm sitting at 5 ex so far. The problem I have is that mapping is awkward with flameblast totems. It's a weird "run around in circles" kind of thing. Unfortunately I haven't found any really genius new builds for this league. So I think I'll play this totem dude until I drop a tabula, then I'll roll up a frost blades character or a lab runner. I've really enjoyed the beast crafting so far and Im looking forward to fighting some of the "unique" beasts.

It's amazing to read all the hate that's on the forums though. Most people seem to hate the beast mechanic either because it slows them down or because they struggle with the nets. While I understand those complaints I think it's nice to have something different for a while.

check it:

https://clips.twitch.tv/FunAffluentCucumberFUNgineer

So the split item recipe that was suppose to duplicate an item but split its mods would keep the number of sockets in place and enchants AND shaper influence. So today before they disabled it there was a stack of duplicating of 6 linked chests, good base helms with enchants, good base rings, etc.

Then they disable the recipe that they turned on in the recent patch and post whats below claiming this was intended(except shaper/elder bases). But because it was turned off and people had no freaking use for the monsters...like in general for this league...it was being used non stop by people once it was turned on. So now it's not "balanced" right. I see words but I hear bullshit.

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2103510

Honestly, even if it was intended...which he is claiming...why would they ever let people duplicate enchants. Just silly.

I haven't played much since the weekend.. still sitting at level 60 or something. Not really interested so far in the league mechanic.

About the duplicated enchants... I feel bad for the people who build lab runners, I'm guessing there was a big drop in enchanted item prices.

I didn't realize that they left in the Abyss mechanic for this league. I was playing last night and ran into my first abyss in 50 levels so it's definitely a lot rarer than it was during the league.

Yeah - the first one I ran into was on blood aqueduct. What was funny was I didn't even realize I had stepped on the start of it and it was just continuing straight up the path. I was thinking "where the hell are all these monsters coming from!?!?" Then I realized it was the abyss rift.

I don't think you'll see much of a drop. This exploit was only open for a few hours. Legacy league had one up for weeks and people weren't able to figure out something was different until after they heard about it.

Is there no "item drops on death if equipped by an animated guardian" enchantment anymore?
I was hoping to animate some uniques, but am afraid to lose them if the guardian dies

If I recall, if your AG gem is in a weapon/shield, there is a trick to do a quick weapon swap to kill/reanimate and they will have all the gear back (along with full health) but I'd prefer just to get an enchant.

It's not an enchant, it's a Haku mod. It cost 8 chaos, uses a prefix slot on a chest piece and can be done at level 1 Haku.

Yeah - I don't know WTF I was talking about. So basically, if your AG dies, the item drops and isn't lost, correct?

I was always under the impression that the guardian was so tanky that they really don't die. You should try it out on that dyadus axe i put in the stash.

It is rare that they die, but in some boss battles, I've had some die (or come damned close)
dyadus is what I wanted to try out, and and some decent armor (to help prevent dying)
I will mess around with it tonight

Having played Essence, Breach, Abyss and now this league, I've got to say it's the least fun league so far (for me). Finally played PoE again after a few days and got to maps.. but it's so boring, the league mechanic seems non-existent, haven't seen a single red beast so far (I've only run around 20 maps yet though, but I've seen more Breach and Abyss). Haven't got any good drops yet either this league, never been this low on alchs and chaos.

I've also been getting a lot of 'instance not found/ game crashes'. I do the 3rd lab before beating Kitava but couldn't do it this time because the game would crash every time I enter the last Izaro fight. Gave up after the 3rd attempt.

I'm also struggling with alchs... But I'm really enjoying the league. There should be more red mobs. I'd say they should appear at around every 3-4 maps. But currently I'd estimate it at 1 per 8-10 maps. That's pretty low for being the main league feature.

I do enjoy it though. It's been a nice addition to the game. I like that you can choose to engage with is as much as you'd like.

There was a good thread on Reddit about how useless and pointless most the recipes are too. Most end up being to produce some random rares. More work than it's worth. I don't hate the league, just seems like A LOT of work went into it for nominal return. Maybe there is more planned in the future and this is the starting point, but in all honesty, I've just been playing through and enjoying the normal POE fun.

To put it in perspective, when I see a new beast (which can be hard/impossible in a large enough mob) I say - "meh" and hit the V key a few times in hope my net lands on it.
When I see a green Abyss dot on my map I get a little excited and prepare myself.
When I see a purple Breech dot on my map, I sit up straight. Prep my character (and minions). Clear the surrounding area. And get a little sweaty.

Point being, there were/are so many more exciting/fun leagues

I'm still ambivalent about the league. In the beginning my capture ratio of beasts was horrendous, it has improved a lot but still the vast majority of my deaths have been due to waiting until the right moment to launch a net. My build depends a lot upon stunning the target and then continually wailing on it-if I do that most times I kill the target before launching the net. There also is something like a corpse explosion after (some?) captures-that has killed me a couple of times. And I have yet to actually use any of the recipes.

On the positive side, it's easier to just ignore the whole bestiary system than previous league specials were, and it mostly doesn't introduce lag like my beloved Perandus chests did.

I'm also very poor-chaos seem to drop earlier and slightly more often than before, but little else.

My main gripe remains the mapping system. It is almost impossible to advance your atlas at anything more than a glacial pace if you depend on your own drops. This time around I tried to depend on my own map drops and what Zana would sell. By level 82 I had roughly 8 undone tier 1-5 maps before I gave up and bought them on the trade market. I'm now level 82 and just entering tier 6 and 7 maps.

Worst of all, the elemental clawer build has apparently become extremely popular, driving the gear prices way up.

I hate the Abyss mechanic... It takes so long and generally takes me backwards. I do get excited for breaches, but I also get super pumped when I find a legendary beast.

The trick is just capture the beasts you come across. At the end of the day go to your altar and run the unique recipes and any other good ones you find. You can't really target farm any good recipes so it ends up just being a few extra uniques at the end of a play session.

If all it results in is a "few extra uniques", I'd rather just run an extra map and get a unique, XP, rares and other assorted loot than go to the Bestiary, then to the alter. Sift through recipes. Then do a pointless battle. I guess my point is, it's a lot of superfluous work/effort for nominal results.

BTW, did anyone catch the "new" recipe for 60 unique rings?

This is the first league I've bothered getting a significant amount of maps from Zana. I got to about 20 maps done pretty fast but now I'm stuck trying to complete the missing ones before I move to higher tiers. I don't want to trade for maps this low in tiers... but it seems like I will have to.
It's crazy but in the bottom left side of atlas I'm still stuck on Graveyard. I've run the map at least 20 times now (maps this low, I don't alch or chisel, I only transmute and aug if needed for 2nd mod) and I haven't gotten a single t2 drop from it yet.

I've been buying what I can from Zana - as others have pointed out this is the most I've purchased from her ever I think.

You can boil every league down to "a few extra uniques" (or rares) if you really try... People loved Perandus league even though it was just "Pick up these coins all the time to maybe get a unique later". It's the same thing. Bestiary is actually done better except for the annoying nets.

I consider Perandus a mob league. It has extra mobs/chests with the added RNG element of getting offered a great unique for the useless league currency. This league is a crafting league that is worse than the previous crafting league they had. If this league didn't have a few stand out recipes, it would have been shit on twice as hard as it already has. They put out the patch notes that will drop sometime this week and they mention letting you chose the base now when you roll rare mod reciepes. So now we get to chose the base but get a random roll on the mod we want which is only 1 step behind Essence league instead of 2.
