Thanks Thump, I'll check it out.

Should I assume that any toon I have where Kitava killed me is only good for deletion? It's hard making up the loss in resistance from him.

I played this game a long time ago when it was in beta and thought the combat felt bland. I just gave it another try and the combat has some punch now. I'm really enjoying it and I kind of regret not giving it another chance sooner. While I like the depth of the character building I'm still not a fan of the passive skills "web" though.

I think how good a build is at killing Kitava doesn't truly indicate how well you'll do endgame. I was using completely different gear when fighting Kitava than I am now, also changed a few of the gems and changed some stuff around on the skill tree.

As for resists, spend a couple alchs on poe.trade and you should be able to max them easily.

Did you join the guild? I joined a few days ago and I haven't seen anyone on except Thump. I guess it's really late in the league. I started this league pretty late as well and now there's only two weeks left.

I've been in the guild for a while Vivendi but I come and go- I played 2 weeks of PoE but I went back to Grim Dawn for a little bit. Maybe next league I'll start from the beginning for a while. I tend to get to 50-60 and find it gets too hard when you're not following a build and buying the recommended gear.

Next league looks interesting, I'll probably go back but since I'm lazy, what is the simplest build I can do? I'm thinking maybe a cleave build? Or something with high defense so I can just stand there and not die.

Don't do cleave. Just do cyclone. It's much stronger both offensively and defensively. Heck, go with the Ngamhu's meatball build. It's a great league starter (relatively cheap) and can clear pretty much all content.

I'm curious what they're going to do with cyclone. It was way too popular last league. I see either buffs to another skill or changes to that skill. Or maybe they won't do squat with it. That seems to be a common route for them as well.

I don't think they will touch it. At this point it's pretty obvious that other melee skills need buffs. Cyclone should be left as is.

I'm hoping elemental claw doesn't get nerfed. That's been a really fun build and you don't need expensive stuff and it's a pretty smooth progression from the start.

BTW new league starts two weeks from today. I'm guessing the current league ends next weekend. I certainly didn't make much progress on achievements this league.

Anyone see the new Ascendancy classes posted today? Hierophant looks ridiculously strong and is probably my pick for league starter. The only question then is what type of totems should I run? Any suggestions?

Definitely looks nicer. Popular totems are still dark pact or glacial cascade. But with these changes it could easily push other skills into the "acceptable" 1mil+ dps range.

I also thought for a moment that Hierophant finally got life leech like chieftain but then realized it doesn't say from totems. It's hard for me to play classes that can't actively leech unless it's something like RF where you have 1500 regen per second. I've tried totems 3 times and just couldn't do it.

Oh yeah! I had forgotten about dark pact... That could be fun. You think leveling with flame? Or should I give shockwave or flameblast a try?

Flame totem + Firestorm is the usual start. Then at level 28 you pick your main. If you decide on an elemental skill then you get a free pass to play around with stuff but dark pact takes a different build path. With the Ascendancy changes, people may stop using Ancestral Bond. You get a second totem with 2 Ascendancy points that has no damage penalty and you can start doing damage yourself since you didn't spec AB. Makes things interesting. I can see people doing 4 points to get Arcane Reverence, 2 to get Conviction of Power or Divine Guidance and then 2 to get your second totem with Pursuit of Faith.

Did they give a date for the start of the next league? I can't access the link, or really any video game related news at work. I've skipped a couple of seasons but could see hopping back in if the timing is right.

It starts in 9 days on Friday March 2nd. Full patch notes will be out a few days before league starts.

Does anyone know when this league ends? Trying to get some of the challenges-just about all of them are a huge grind. Clasped hands-I have 30 done, need 200 or 300 ( I forget which). Managed to get the exiles done by buying a lot of four feral exile prophecies. Getting influenced maps is really a grind, I'm not even halfway there and it seems like I've been pushing on it forever.

It ends on the 26th. You're at 26/40 challenge which means you're done with the easy stuff. Unless you're going for 35 or 36 then there isn't much reason to keep going. But to help a bit with your question, if you don't have a toon that can complete T16 maps and do things like red map elder than you won't be able to complete enough to get to get to 35 or 36. Your only other option is to buy challenges in Trade 820. If you don't play standard and have a decent amount of currency then you may as well just buy them since you lose everything anyway. 100c would buy you another 5-7 challenges. I put like 20 exalt worth of currency and items in the guild stash if anything is still left.

So.... who's going to pick my build for 3.2? Remember, I'm old and slow. I can't play those twitch builds anymore! :)
Blade flurry was a good/fun build this past league. Got to lvl90 and hit a wall (as always) but was fun getting there. Someday I will do end-game content!

I will only have about 2-3 weeks to play before MLB The Show '18 comes out and then my POE time will drop off a cliff :(

I'm waiting to see all the new changes before even thinking about a build for next league.
Also, I've had really bad luck with vaaling gems... I vaaled seven 20/20 Tornado Shot (had six in spare kit whole league basically) and bricked every single one.

Edit: Whatever build I do, I'm finally try my hand at using sextants and blocking stuff on the atlas.

What do you mean by "brick"? 7 in a row negative is ridiculously bad luck. 7 in a row without a good result is pretty common though. I've gotten +1 at about 1/8 - 1/10 odds. Actually the past two leagues I've rolled +1 to my main skills of cyclone and frost bolt which was pretty cool.

Yeah obviously still need to see what changes are still forthcoming for 3.2 before a build is decided.
I never understood "blocking" on the atlas...

I never understood "blocking" on the atlas...

Here's how I understand it...
While most sextant mods are decent to great, there's a few bad ones. So you want to "block" these mods so that they're not appearing on the map you're running.
Let's say you want to run sextant-ed Shaped Vault.
Now you'll be using a sextant on Shaped Vault itself and also on maps around it in sextant range, one of which is Armoury. And... Armoury map is in sextant range of Lava Chamber map.
What we want to do is roll a bad sextant mod on Lava Chamber. Since you can't have the same sextant mods on maps within sextant range of each other, this lets us "block" bad mods from occurring on Armoury map and thus on Shaped Vault map and netting us more profit.
And the good thing is that as long as you never run Lava Chamber and Armoury maps again, you don't need to block again.

makes sense.
But... that's just too involved for me. I'm not that much of a die-hard :)
I just drop the sextants and let fate be my driver :p
