Noted. Thanks!

You are welcome :) Let us know how you like the Double Totems :)

I have a level 8 duelist. Are they horrible?

Honestly I do not know. Have not played one yet.

I should fire this game back up, I've been in a gaming slump lately. You guys talking about the totems...I'll have to give it a try. I tried totems pre-2.0 and I wasn't really impressed. It was recommended not to level with the skill, so maybe that was my problem.

I played a tornado show shadow and loved him, although I really couldn't get out of the early 70's... Hrmm.

Does anybody know if the end of the current league is near? Should I wait?

Also I have the name 'Derp' reserved. I've only got like 70 hours in this game but everyone thinks I'm a pro player because I somehow managed to claim that name after the game had been out for like 2 years. It's for sale for 100$ btw :D

Totem dmg is tied directly to leveling it up.
The Jumps are rather large with each level up.
Obviously gems boost the Dps a lot but Gem level is VERY important.

Watch the following video to see Double totems in full swing :)
You make your own decision :)

I think XiandreX has stock in totems sales :)

With the witch I have now I use the flame totem all the time -- it probably gets more kills than the mobs or pulse I use. I'm trying to decide if I should respect and get to the +1 totem skill with my current witch, or just start a new toon.

XiandreX, you're using a witch, correct? I suppose that's the best DPS class for totems.

Did I hear a fire sale on Totems? :sneaky:

My Fire totems kill mobs extremely quickly and I personally would not hesitate to take both totems.
I imagine with end game gear it would be amazing.
I am indeed a Witch, apparently they end up with the most spell power, but a little less survivability.
I am ok with the glass canon approach, keeps you on your toes.

What's the deal with these card things? I saw one in my guild bank, I think it said (40x scrolls of wisdom) and then I saw a few linked in chat. One said 5x currency.

It's a greyish color...similar to the default scroll colors, and has an icon?

Also what's the deal with item filters? Does this make you automatically pick things up, or does it just enable you to change the colors of drops?

How is act 4? Fun? I've already noticed the new crabs right outside of Lionseye watch, working on my witch totemer, level 13 at the moment :D

they are called Divination cards

they are just another form of RnG loot farming

So, this thread got me playing again. Haven't played since like 2013 so shelved my old shadow and rolled a witch.

Is it worth it at all to use upgrade orbs, etc on leveling gear? As in using an orb to turn a regular item into a magic or something similar? Right now the game is a cake walk but I'm not leveling all the gems I could be since I don't have even a remotely decent gem layout on my gear. Didn't know if it was worth to reroll some low level items to get some decent sockets and links or just save them all for the higher levels.

played for just a couple hours last night and levelled up to 18. Still having fun, a little into Act 2. How many Acts are there?

They just drop. I have a dozen or so of them. Never looked into their rarity.

Ah okay thanks. So in the case of the 5x currency card that I saw linked, it just drops 5x currency like a strongbox would if you click it?

I'm also seeing a mention of a temporary league...what's that all about. I believe the current (non HC) league is warbands, is that ending soon? What is this 1 month league people keep talking about? If stuffs about to reset in the next week or 2 I'm going to try a few YOLO builds since I always play up to date leagues.

after the ~3 month league ends

GGG usually has some shorter league in between hence 1 month league

I don't even understand what a "league" is per se. What's the point/idea behind them? Should I be doing them?

brand new economy and some gameplay differences based off of league design

so do I get to keep items found while playing that league? I assume the toon disappears when league ends?

As I read it, the toons don't disappear.

Guess I will join the next league that pops up and see what it's all about.

When the league ends, everything in it (items, characters, etc) is merged with the permanent league.

Warbands -> Standard
Tempest -> Hardcore (of course, dying in Tempest instantly moves you to Standard, as per usual hardcore league rules)

The 1-month should be fun, flashbacks are amazing and chaotic. Last flashback the GF and I made Fakener characters with conduit to group together, not sure what we're doing this time. I had more fun in Flashback than I ever did in Snorebands to be honest >_>

RE: Divination Cards

You collect however many of them the particular card requires and turn them in to an Act 4 NPC to get whatever the card says it gives. Cards drop in CERTAIN ZONES ONLY. For example, a very rare/valuable card I need for my Mjollner character is "The Brittle Emperor". It can only drop in The Dried Lake, and very very rarely at that, because it can be turned in for a (beneficially) corrupted Voll's Devotion amulet, an item that isn't easy to get. "Emperor's Luck" drops in the imperial gardens, and probably maps based on that tileset, and gives RANDOM currency - you might get armor scraps or alt orbs or alchemy orbs, etc.

Basically they're a slightly-less-random way to farm for loot. Some cards are good, some are crap (CARRION CROW HOLY COW IT'S BAD)

is there somewhere (I looked in the wiki) that shows how many sockets certain items and/or item types can have?

I was given an Infernal Mantle, but it;s only 3 sockets -- can it go higher?

IIRC, two handers and chest armor can be 6 sockets max. Helm/Gloves/Boots can be 4 sockets max.

For the leagues: they are similar to how seasons work for diablo. I don't play anything but the seasons (or leagues in this case).

The reason is that standard has a ton of crap that has flooded the market. Things become cheap, or expensive, or both. People have been able to work their characters for YEARS and so it's kind of a whatever race to compete with them.

Last league I played was torment, they had the ghost guys randomly and they would posses rare spawns and make them stronger, but they'd drop better loot. This current league is warbands, and while I've only gotten to level 15, there are random packs of (2?) unique monster guys that spawn in different areas.

That's actually a question I had...in act 1 all of the waypoints have blue text, and an icy looking icon around the zones. What's that all about?

Anyways. I encourage you to try leagues. It's just a way of 'wiping' the game and making everyone start at zero. It's nice because if you find something really powerful the first week, you are set for the whole league.

EDIT: Also your characters don't get deleted, they just get moved from the ladder to the standard league (or if they die on HC league) once that particular league ends. You'll only find Warbands content in the warbands current league. Not sure if there are league specific items or not...I know in Diablo 3 seasons there are seasons-only uniques.

Gotcha -- and those items can't/won't transfer to the "normal" game when the league is done? I rarely have a ton of time to put a lot of time into the game. It's just something I do when I have an hour of "free time" or I decide that I will stay up late one night and suffer the consequences for the next 3 days :)

So my Mantle should be able to get 6 sockets on it? That'd be incredible.

They do transfer.

Any item you find with a league character is stuck inside of that league. Once the league ends, all of the characters go to the permanent standard league, at which point, you can access those items on any characters.

Once a new league starts, it's like starting over with a new account, those characters will be cut off from your normal stash until the end of that particular league.

So just finished Normal at level 43 on my Witch.
My Flame totems are 1083 Dps each, running, Crit Dmg, Added Lightning
and Faster casting.
Think I will just farm for loot before starting cruel. :sneaky:

I'm jelly. I'm almost off work but I have a feeling the wife wants me to watch kids tonight so she can go work out. I am only level 11....

What was the deal with the ATOT guild? Is there one? I'm in a crappy reddit guild..don't know any IRL friends that play this game.

RE: Sockets -

Chest armors and 2H weapons are the only slots capable of being 6-socketed. Helm/Gloves/Boots can have a maximum of 4 sockets, 1H weapons and shields have a maximum of 3 sockets. The number of sockets that can be ROLLED (i.e. drop sockets or rolled with a Jewelers Orb) is based on the ITEM LEVEL of the item (hold alt over an item to see this). ANY 2H/Chest of item level 50 or higher can roll 6 sockets. Anything 35+ can roll 5 sockets. I think the requirement for 4 sockets is like 20. An item can always have any or all of it's sockets linked (so if it can have 6 sockets, it can 6-link).

HOWEVER, even if your item doesn't meet the item level 50 requirement, the master "Vorici" provides an Artificer's Table for your hideout, which can be used to FORCE 6 sockets/6links. This is NOT cheap. Usually (but not always, RNG is RNG) it is cheaper to "manually roll" your sockets with jewelers/fusings than pay the Vorici rates. Personally I hate gambling though...

So yes, your Infernal Mantle can be 6-linked, if you're willing to spend enough to do so.

RE: Divination Cards -

If you aren't farming for anything in particular, it's highly unlikely you will be *able* to "cash in" any cards except maybe Carrion Crow or The Scholar. When you get to mapping, The Gambler shows up moderately often. As I stated before, Carrion Crow is GODAWFUL, it rolls a random base item and a random life roll, resulting in a completely useless item almost every time. The Scholar is pretty worthless unless you're playing a magic find character - I dunno about you but I always wind up having hundreds more wisdom scrolls than I actually need.

RE: Farming for loot before Cruel -

DON'T. You're wasting your time. Act 4 Normal is MUCH harder than Act 1 Cruel. By the time you'll actually be challenged in Cruel, you'll be in 50+ zones where your farming can result in much more valuable drops, such as 6-socket items which can be vendored for 7 Jewelers' orbs.

RE: Flame Totem Links -

Unless you have really high crit chance (hint: you don't right now, you aren't high enough level) drop the crit damage gem for something better. Added Chaos would fit in nicely without needing to change socket colors, Fire Penetration would be even better but would require a red socket instead of the blue you have currently.

I started my witch this week and hit 43 in around 4 days after work.
I know it will slow down a bit, but much quicker than the old POE.
I would love to join the ATOT guild, however if I connect to the States my latency will be around 300+ which stinks. If I connect to London its about 230
which is bad enough. (only running 2mb line)
I am still up to join an ATOT guild and share spare loot with any guildies :)
