You should have a free skill reset available on any character that existed before 2.0 hit. You do NOT however get to re-do your bandits, you gotta do the vendor recipe (20 regrets + an amulet based on who you want favor with - PER DIFFICULTY) to respec your bandit quests.

Even with bad gear, your 67 should be fine with a full respec. And since you're in standard, buying new gear from poe.trade should be easy, there's tons of very good, very cheap gear there.

I decided to roll a Witch with fire totems.
I cannot believe how much quicker you level in 2.0 and with this class.
Anyways I am really enjoying the trapping and using cover.
Hit 17 already.

They really buffed fire totems / traps while leveling.

Fun game. Thanks for letting us know about it. Free, easy to get into, takes a long time to master I've read.

It does take a while. I have a 67 Ranger + 52 Shadow and I have only scratched the surface :D

Ok so POE 2.0 is much better than the old POE.
I already hit 34 (I think, too tired to recall, stayed up way too late).
The leveling pace of the Fire totem/s is awesome. Just got my second totem a couple levels back. Being able to control mobs and having almost 600 Dps with each totem brings a smile to my face.
Cool thing is being able to run Magic rarity since this witch setup is not as expensive and as gear reliant as other class/builds.
I think running 54% Item rarity at the moment.

I gave up on a new toon. I want to get to Merciless and see what it is like, and I just don't have so much time to play games anymore. So I reworked my Witch (lvl 63) -- grabbed some new gear to allow me to socket properly (flame totem and summoner) She's doing much better at this point.

Still need to find some 5L items, but the 4L I have are sufficing for now.

Once I 4 linked Fire Totem its been amazing. I am using, faster casting, crit dmg, and added lightning dmg.
I still need to get fire penetration and iron will.

Yeah my skills on my fire totem are all messed up right now.
I was thinking of added an increase crit chance with Crit dmg. I was also thinking of adding a longer spell duration.

Does faster casting help all that much?

I'm not sure if I'm going to do the +1 totem passive -- I still want to be able to cast freezing pulse

Currently cyclone speced right now. Not following a guide, just sort of did my own thing. I am 56 at the end of cruel - some mobs are very difficult. My gear isn't all that great. I only have a 4L. I have tons of currency (relatively speaking) at this point, but I am always scared to spend it on gear that will be replaced... Yet, a simple 5L would work wonders right now.

I suspect I may may need to grind a bit to get a few more levels before I finish out cruel.

I have hundreds of Chromatic Orbs, Orbs of Alteration and Orbs of Transmutation. Should I trade them up for higher currency via the vendors?

Also, the armor sets you can buy via micro-transactions... Can they be transferred to new gear? Is there a risk you can lose those purchase armors if you vendor a piece accidentally? Also, do they ever go on sale? Seems expensive to spend $40 just so you don't look like an idiot with no pants on.

Crit dmg is very good to level, however if you have the gear to support it
Crit Chance is very good for high levels (*Merciless)
Faster casting is very good. Double totem's are ridiculous.
I would be using Fire pen and Faster Projectiles but have not got them yet.

Edit.... just got Fire Pen in a quest

Small snippet from his post.
The video is well worth the watch.

"For your main attack you will be using Flame Totem linked with Faster Casting, Fire Penetration, Faster Projectiles, Added Chaos Damage and Iron Will.
For a 5-link leave out Iron Will and for a 4-link leave out Iron Will and Added Chaos Damage."

I am not even joking, with 2 Totems you can control the battlefield so much better and they will each focus on the closest target.
So you can throttle different points of a room, and if they are close to each other the Dps is very good.
Its weird not being able to do direct damage, but just tell yourself the totems
are your damage, an extension of your hand so to speak.
I literally use them as Cover points/Tanks.

I highly suggest reading the following info.
Helped me a ton :awe:

Ahh 2.0 is out? They fix the stun disconnect issue yet?

Not sure about the stun disconnect but the syncing seems all but gone and disconnects are rare.
I was able to play using a 3g connection in South Africa connecting to London's Server and did not lose connection or sync out once in almost 3 hours.

I'll trade transmutes and alterations up to jewelers and fusings every now and then, but there's no need to do it unless you need space.

Also, you can't sell the microtransactions to a vendor, even if they are on gear. The problem that does happen to me is I lose them in my stash tabs from league to league, or on old characters that I no longer use. So annoying... They do go on sale. There's a daily deal and they do some packages sometimes. Your best bet is to find a supporter pack you like and get points that way.

I just cant imagine not casting spells. So odd.

Maybe I will start a new witch (seems witch is ideal for this for most DPS) and get there that way.

I struggled with the not casting spells, but you soon learn. You still using spells to move around, escape damage but you essentially become a Spell trapper.
I would restart. The Pace at which you level is crazy. Big improvement.

Lower level leveling is pretty damned fast for all builds/skills though.
I will mess around with it a bit and see.

My witch is only 9 points away from the +1 totem passive right now. I still have 5 respec points too so I could get to it that way with my high-level already.

If you're not using a casting spell, what do you but in the rest of your sockets?

Be careful when trading alteration orbs to players. How the value usually works is 8 alts = 1 fusing/alchemy, because you can craft 1 fusing from 8 alts. And people try to trade alch/fusings orbs for 10 alts for a +20%, or 20 alts for 1 chaos, which is essentially the same thing. Don't get scammed. If anything, craft them into fusings, and save a few alts for rolling things like flasks, or low level maps. You can convert stacks of alts into fusings in no time at all. Fusinigs are always in demand. People aiming for a 6L usually need several hundred of them to a 1000 or more. Scamming on currency exchanges is one of the ways people acquire currency without actually playing the game. Sorry I don't consider spamming trade chat "playing the game". If I wanted to play an economy simulator, there are better games out there. I'd rather make those players go out and farm.

Transmute orbs are worth basically nothing, other than to roll "normal" items into magic items, etc flasks or low level maps. Some people use transmutes/alts to roll 2 really good magic mods on a weapon, and then use a regal orb to make it a rare. Depending on what you're aiming for 2 really good mods, and one (hopefully) decent magic mod might be a nice upgrade. Then use exalts to finish it off and hope you get some extra mods via exalts that are useful, such as resists, etc. But that's more advanced crafting. I wouldn't recommend doing that with anything other than top item level gear. I made a really awesome physical damage ring using that method. I had to use about 1200 alteration orbs to roll it. Someone offered me 30ex for the ring, and I didn't hesitate to turn it down. I'm not sure I would have sold it even for 50.

Don't be afraid to spend smaller amounts of currency on leveling gear. Like its no sweat to spend a couple chaos orbs worth of currency for a piece of gear in cruel/merciless to help you level quicker. Especially if you're struggling with your current gear. I typically use the same gear throughout cruel as I did in normal mode, but when you get to merciless, its time to spend some for some upgrades. If you're getting 1-2 shotted by regular mobs, its time to upgrade, if its taking you more than a couple secs to pick off normal mobs you need upgrades, etc. I judge my need for upgrades based on performance. The cost doesn't matter. Needing upgrades is needing upgrades. Getting better at the game isn't gonna make you drop mobs any faster. That's only something that gear can do. Getting better might keep you alive long enough to tickle a certain boss to death with really crummy gear.

I got pretty high standards for performance of my builds, and if they don't hack it I won't hesitate for a moment to delete them. I've deleted countless characters in the sub 60 range, and even a few in the 60+ range. I figure out about half way through merciless whether that build is gonna hack it or not. At this point I'm done experimenting with builds, and typically run with stuff I know for a fact is good. I'm not great at theorycrafting. I tried, and failed 90% of the time at it. And when I thought I made a good build, someone else made one that was similar, but better. I would have gotten farther, quicker if I had just abandoned theorycrafting and went with cookie cutter builds. I would definitely recommend new players do that. And once you are familiar with the game, then try theorycrafting, and if you realize after many failed attempts that you suck at it like I did, then go back to running cookie cutter builds. They're just as fun to play.

The best way to sell currency is to watch trade 1 for awhile. Take what you see players spamming buy for and average it with what you see players selling for. It is generally between the two.

Did we ever get a AT guild? I'd certainly join if we did.

I created a guild for the Path of Exile forums call POEFA. ATOTers are welcome to join. Send me a PM with your PoE account name / character name or reply to the POEFA thread over in their guild forum.

Please keep in mind this is from that guide posted above.
I took down notes from his video guide for gear/gems.
A lot of these are personal choices but make a lot of sense to get
out of a Jam if things get rough.
I still need to get all of these but after watching the video of this guy running
his Witch I was sold.

Chest - Flame Totem, Faster Casting, Fire Penetration, Faster projectiles, Added Chaos Damage and Iron Will if you get a 6L
Gloves - Flammability, Vaal Haste, Herald of Thunder *(great Dps improvement), Increased Duration
Boots - Enduring Cry, Cast when Damage taken, immortal Call, Increased Duration
Helmet - Summon Flame Golem, Life Leech, Minion and Totem Elemental Resistance, Minion Life
Weapon - Lightning Warp, Faster Casting, Reduced Duration (Crucial to escape situations in Merciless)
Shield - Flame Totem, Culling Strike, Item Rarity (These are personal choice)

Hope this helps

I should fire this game back up, I've been in a gaming slump lately. You guys talking about the totems...I'll have to give it a try. I tried totems pre-2.0 and I wasn't really impressed. It was recommended not to level with the skill, so maybe that was my problem.

I played a tornado show shadow and loved him, although I really couldn't get out of the early 70's... Hrmm.

Does anybody know if the end of the current league is near? Should I wait?

Also I have the name 'Derp' reserved. I've only got like 70 hours in this game but everyone thinks I'm a pro player because I somehow managed to claim that name after the game had been out for like 2 years. It's for sale for 100$ btw :D
