I wonder if there has ever been a kid who considered himself a girl, or vice versa, and then went on to kill themself later because of being treated as their genetic gender?I don't know. I think I'd rather be punched a little growing up than paraded around in a dress and made fun of my entire childhood.
Either one is going to be damaging in their own right. The beaten kid might grow up to be violent and kill someone. The abused gender distorted kid will just grow up and kill themselves.
If that has happened, now what? Was it abuse for the parents to treat that boy as a boy, or the girl as a girl? Or was their suicide just because they were mentally defective?
The problem here is that you seem to think you know this kid better than the parents or the kid. You seem to be 100% sure that this is just some passing phase...and even if not, that, well, once the kid gets older and still feels this way, then the parents can treat the kid as the opposite gender. But if that's the case, wouldn't it be abuse to treat the kid as a boy when the kid considered itself a girl?
I think that anyone who thinks this case is clear-cut is deluding themselves. There isn't one answer that will satisfy all cases of this type of event that is best for the child. If this kid wants to be treated as a girl from 3 until they die, thenit would be pretty detrimental to be treated as a boy, regardless of whether some kid knows the genetic gender and laughs and makes fun of the kid at school.
